Wigan Town Centre

Stayed here after a work night out, although I’m from Wigan, a few of us decided to stay over we couldn’t say no with the price of the room, You will never beat a premier inn mattress. Staff very helpful after I had lost my room key. Didn’t manage to have breakfast, I chose to stay in bed longer

Great location, clean and comfortable beds/rooms, perfect sleep. Nice evening meal, but the breakfast was very poor, cold cooked breakfast, poor staff service..stood about gossiping to other staff members, slagging off another staff member who had been off work with a sore leg, in hearing distance of customers! Tables left dirty and not wiped after use, just reset for next customer! Supervisor took sausage out of the customers buffet area and walked through the restaurant with it sticking out her mouth! In the evening we went into the bar for a drink, no staff about, we had to knock on an office door to ask for a drink, 5 tables left with dirty glasses and empty pizza box's on, completely ignored by staff who quickly went back into the office and weren't seen again! Very poor service! Staff wearing outside coats, whist serving in bar and reception area..so unprofessional. Having said that, we had an evening meal one night and the evening staff were great! We were served with a great waitress named Jo, very attentive, fast efficient service, professional and friendly, we didn't take notice of the other waitress, who was also great! Can't praise them enough. Breakfast staff should take note and up their game! Such a shame as it's a great hotel, good town centre position, rooms spotless clean and comfortable.

On the 10th January we experienced some terrible weather including minus temperatures and snow. Unfortunately I could not get home after a night shift as the roads were so unsafe. I came into Premier Inn and asked if there were any rooms available and I was asked to take a seat, I waited for about fifteen minutes. The manager said there were rooms available. I asked if there was any chance of a discount as I was not using the hotel room overnight and I just needed to sleep for a few hours before I go into work for another night shift and I needed some sleep, there was no option for a reduced rate, even if I checked out by a certain time. I was asked to book online- which I did, and I paid £54. Upon checking in I was asked for an extra £10 as I was checking in early which I was not aware of when booking. Although checking in early, as I said previously I wouldn't have even been there overnight. I got to my room about 9.30am, I woke at 15:30, hungry as having no breakfast so I decided to go and get some food. By this time it was not worth returning to the hotel room as I had to get ready for work, so I used the room for 6 hours and the room could have easily been re-booked for that night. I know you don't have a special rate for daytimes but under the circumstances I think some exceptions to the rules could have applied. A discount or even removal of the early check in, the room had obviously not been used the night before. I do however appreciate the earplugs!

I really like the breakfast it was very tasty, the service is very nice, the room is really comfort and tidy. But the Wi-Fi in the hotel is bad, it was very slow. Please subscribe to UnJakeGaming on YouTube for more trip and gaming videos, thanks !

The stay at the hotel was pleasant, The problem arose with parking, I was charged £8 using the code provided by premier inn, which I paid, 1 week later I received a parking ticket for £60, if paid straight away, £100 if you dispute it? Although this is a third party owned carpark, premier inn must take some responsibility here, Don’t get drawn in to this con! If you plan to park, use a different hotel, it will work out cheaper in the long run.

The location of the hotel is very convenient for Wigan town centre. However, the directions provided by the hotel prior to my visit made finding the hotel very difficult as they instructed me to enter the wrong post code into my satnav. My room was clean but very basic. I had a good nights sleep. However, I made the mistake of having the full breakfast next morning. It was awful and at £11.99 not cheap. There was no bread for toast. The fried eggs were solid clearly they had been cooked sometime earlier and just left to go rock hard. The bacon was again over cooked and solid and the black pudding was again totally solid through over cooking and when I tried to cut into it, it oozed fat. The staff in the restaurant just seemed to be chatting and showed no interest in me nor asked if the breakfast was OK. I was going to report this dreadful service at reception as I left but there was no sign of ant staff to report it to. The breakfast is certainly to be avoided.
