The Waterside Hotel

Wonderful West Coast hospitality Attended a family wedding and stayed overnight. Great communication with staff prior to arrival and we were delighted to be able to get into the room early to prepare. Beautiful toiletries in bathroom. The wedding was amazing- staff friendly, attentive, nothing too much trouble. The room was on 1st floor. Side view of the sea and the Isle of Arran. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast in morning hit the spot! Pastries, fruit and toast - helped yourself. Cooked breakfast to order. My partner went for full Scottish, I had salmon and scrambled egg. All staff, in particular, the manager were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

We booked this hotel for the location to celebrate  our wedding as we married at gretna green and wanted a waterfront location for our wedding night. We booked the Spa Suite at £300 a night, and although the location was fabulous we were left extremely disappointed with the accommodation in general. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain so were unable to use the outside areas of the room which would have been lovely if the weather had been nice. The biggest issue was that after a long day of getting married and travelling 2.5 hours to the hotel , we were extremely tired we went out for a meal and then wanted to have an early night however, nowhere on the website for the hotel or even at checkin were we advised that the room was situated over the bar and resturant and that music would be heard in the room until the bar closed , this music continued until 23.15 , eventually we went to sleep only to be woken at 7am the following morning with the same music blarring because it was breakfast time. If you are a light sleeper like me, it's best to avoid this room. I think the house keeping team need to double check what they are leaving for there guests in the room as they were fully aware there were 2 guests , yet only left 1 bath towel an 3 small hand towels in the room , we only realised when we came to have a shower before going to bed,  i know we should have called reception to get another but we didn't want to wait, As this is a Spa suite with Sauna, bath and shower I would have expected additional towels aswell, PayIng £300 a night, I would have expected at least a complementary bottle of water but no such thing. No robes , slippers etc Unfortunately I will not be returning to this hotel  and feel disappointed that we spent our wedding night here when we could have chosen another hotel with a similar location for a cheaper price .

Great hotel,lovely staff and lovely food,sitting in there amazing garden by the beach in sunshine was heaven ,felt so relaxed from the moment we pulled into car park,and room was fantastic did not want to get out of shower bit glad i did as breakfast was fabulous

Where to start! First time here other half had been years ago and liked it. The plus side was the staff although young and a little quiet were lovely, overworked and are embarrassed by having to ask for money before and during a meal which annoyed us too (is that so we cant refuse to pay) because I would have. From sitting down to FINALLY getting a dessert menu (other half has a sweet tooth) I declined! It took 1hr and 30 mins We were there 2 hours. £20 for burger and chips so I thought this must be outstanding it wasn't it was bloody awful. Over priced pub grub. On the plate: Burger I have no words 2 undercooked brick hard cold onion rings Salad looked like it needed CPR. Frozen Chips in a stupid bucket (cold) And thee worst slaw I have ever eaten which came in what looked like a thimble! Cutlery was dirty. Dessert was like it had been sitting out too long. First and last.

A group of friends attended the restaurant in the waterside last weekend, we were greeted by a very bubbly enthusiastic young waitress who immediately made us very welcome, she was good at helping us to choose from the very extensive menu, and throughout the night constantly made sure we were happy with the food and drinks were topped up. Food quality was excellent, tasty and served hot. We had a great night thank you Sophie for all your help.

Place is lovely inside very modern, we had a problem with the tap in the bath not working, when we reported to reception they offered to sort something out at our dinner. We ordered our food and drinks, the table next to us got seated and overheard the server offer the first round free for the issue they had with the bath, I had to let the server know it was actually ourselves that had the issue, they then took the first round off our bill which was great, the issue with the bath was quite unfortunate as one of the reasons we booked was for the jacuzzi bath but we appreciate the efforts from the hotel to apologise. Room itself was really warm at night and struggled to sleep well. The views of the beach were great. Food was lovely, expensive for what it was. Breakfast was great with a lot of choice and it being included in the room rate was a bonus.

I can't comment on the rooms as I didn't stay there. My friend and I popped in for a change of scene and a cup of tea after a horrid meal at a nearby hotel. What a lovely, welcoming, relaxing place to sit and have a cuppa, beautifully presented, not just plunked on the table, by smiling wait staff. The restaurant was extremely busy but the 3 staff members worked so hard, serving everyone with a smile on their faces. We were so impressed with everything we decided to book dinner for the following evening. Next evening we were seated and introduced to our server, Sophie, who took our drink order and then our meal order. She chatted away to us, telling us firstly about the food, no quibbles about changing some of the items offered to something more to our taste. Order in, she came back and we asked about the hotel which she happily talked about, never making us feel we were wasting her time. Everyone was treated to a wee chat and smiles and fabulous meals. The food was excellent, couldn't have been better, presented well and tasted fantastic. All of the staff should be patted on the back for how professionally they carried out their work and how welcoming they made everyone. We'll certainly be back to the Waterside Hotel.

Went to the waterside for breakfast with family waited 40 minutes for it to come when it did it was cold saturated with grease asked for no mushrooms got one on top of a tomato so it was tainted it was a disgraceful breakfast I don’t think a chef cooked it didn’t get 20% discount either won’t be back

I was recently at The Waterside Hotel for my mums wedding and the place didn't disapoint. Not only is the hotel beautiful, and the views stunning but the staff really made the day so much better. I cannot thank everyone that helped with the wedding enough, especially wee Sophie behind the bar that was a wee hero that didn't even realise, helping my auntie. Thank you for looking after us and the contribution your staff gave to making the day magical for the newlyweds! Will definitely be back to take advantage of the views, couldn't recommend enough!
