Xbalanque

This serene boutique resort checks all the boxes for a peaceful escape. Our yoga group just spent five nights at Xbalanque. The beauty of this special place cannot be overstated. The aesthetic of Xbalanque is defined by a gorgeous combination of natural wood, stone, tropical flowers and plants, and spectacular art. There are many places throughout the resort to eat, swim, relax (in sun and shade), have a massage, or swing in a hammock on the dock. Some of the qualities of Xbalanque that stood out for us: the attentive, friendly staff, the food, the comfortable beds, the filtered water everywhere!, the gorgeous jungle yoga palapa, and the overall beauty of the grounds. Our group snorkeled and saw the amazing coral reef and fish that Roatan is famous for, one person went fishing and caught enough fish to feed our group of 14 for dinner one night! Patsy, the owner of Xbalanque, has created a lovely oasis for her guests, she treats her staff like family and their attentiveness to guests is a testament to her appreciation for them and for those of us lucky enough to experience this uniquely beautiful place.

Probably one of the loveliest resorts I've been to. Wonderful setting where the jungle meets the beach. Fruit trees abound - coconut, banana, mango... The rooms are spacious and wonderfully decorated. The restaurant on site, "Lotus", offered a delicious coffee and breakfast each morning. Never had a bad meal. The proximity to "West End", minutes away, made Xbalanque a treasure to enjoy. Can't wait to go back!!

Such a wonderful place to bring a big family. We went with two other families and the staff accommodating for everything. They were all so kind and attentive. The food and drink selection on the resort was also amazing. Tasteful amenities like quality live music, sound baths, yoga, spa time. I will be bringing my extended family here, for sure!

My wife and I were visiting Roatan for a friends and were able to spend the last few days of our vacation at Xbalanque. This resort was in a great location in Turtle Beach, nestled in between the West End and West Bay. We really enjoyed how tranquil and relaxing our stay was. The staff is very friendly, the hospitality was great. Thank you to "Roatan" Randy, Jamie, Chris and Mike. Food at the Lotus was great, lovely Caribbean homestyle food that was delicious. The room was nestled amongst the trees, really pretty and quiet. Slept really well, the AC in the room was fantastic. Would love to try out one of the larger suites on the beach when going back to Roatan as they looked really nice. Overall would recommend this place for any couples or families travelling to Roatan.

Would definitely recommend a stay at Xbalanque! Shoutout to Mike at Lotus Restaurant. He was such a joy and even agreed to serve us dinner when we showed up 10 minutes before the restaurant closed. The food was also delicious. We ate there at least 10 times during our 5 day stay and in particular I need to RAVE about the BALEADAS at breakfast! Soooo so good. The seafood risotto at dinner was also delightful and both desserts on the menu (key lime pie and tres leches cake) were a must-try! I did have reasons for docking the hotel by 1 star. First of all, we were the only guests at the entire resort for the first 2 days, which was awesome! Private pool, private beach, private restaurant! However, our room was not in the main building (the one shown in all the photos) and we had to walk up a very steep hill in an overgrown path to get to a series of buildings on the street behind. I think they could have advertised that the room was not in the main building at time of purchase, and definitely could have upgraded our room to a room in the main building since no one else was there lol! So from that aspect, customer service wasn't so great. Also, the receptionist left at ~2pm every day, so she said we could call a golf cart if we wanted to get back to the restaurant in the main building at night, but she wasn't there to call it or help us plan activities! However, it was so peaceful and I would stay there again. It came recommended to us by Roatan Divers, and they even picked us up from Xbalanque's dock numerous times, so if you're a diver I would recommend this as well.

This is an excellent place to stay in Roatan. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. EVERYTHING about Xbalanque was amazing. The rooms, location, beach, pools, staff, food, drinks, - everything. It's a few minutes from the reef, a short 5 minute water taxi to West End, and an easy 15 minute walk to West Bay. Despite that, it is a very quiet, peaceful place. Perfect, perfect, perfect.
