Such a unique and endearing hotel. We had two little ones with us and the staff went out of their way to be accommodating and friendly. The room was small but the beds were very comfortable and the views were amazing. The breakfast was spectacular. This is a place we will always remember fondly.

A great place to stay for visiting the Jungfrau region. We had a great stay, the rooms were nice, no issues, a short walk to the train station. The breakfast was good. Dinners were slow but we were not in a rush - you can have dinner outside in the garden if the weather is nice.

This hotel exudes history and character. It feels as though you may have arrived for a Swiss mountain vacation 100 years ago - in a good way. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. The included breakfasts were excellent. The staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. We stayed as a family of four and our room was setup as two adjoining rooms with one washroom, which was perfect. The hotel is a short walk uphill from the train station, which provides great views of the town and mountains. The walk could be a challenge for those with significant mobility issues. This hotel provided a wonderful home base for our family vacation in the Jungfrau region. I recommend both the hotel and the region highly.

We've just stayed 14 nights at this quaint hotel with Tui. Lovely natural, old-fashioned charm to the place that gives it lots of character. Breakfast was continental style with choice of cereal, meuseli, fruit cocktail, scrambled eggs, beans (occasionally sausages or bacon), cold meat, cheese and fresh bread. Evening meal was 2 starters then a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian main followed by desert. The menu didn't repeat for the 14 days we stayed. When the weather is nice, the evening meal is served outside. The room was small but comfortable, we had a small balcony overlooking the mountains. It's only a few minute walk to the railway station and town.

Hotel Falken The employed staff were wonderful, but we probably won’t go again. We had booked a south facing superior room with a balcony. The actual room was south facing with an amazing view, but the balcony was east facing and too small to use. Every evening on our return there were dead flies around a window – possibly due to nearby cows. We think the staff helpfully sprayed the flies daily – but why did they not get vacuumed up daily? A bigger problem was the never-ending creaky floors. We think due to the 1890s parquet flooring. Any movement around a bedroom during the night was a noisy nightmare for those below and around. We had a family above us with a baby for three nights who needed attention in the small hours. After the first night we raised the matter with the management and there was a little improvement as the family above tried very hard to be less noisy. We described the hotel as being shabby genteel – rather fitting for a previous reviewer calling the hotel Fawlty Towers. A plus for us was no television anywhere in sight. The food at breakfast and dinner was great and well presented – thank you. But suddenly on Saturday morning we found there was no dinner in the hotel that night or on the Sunday for which we had paid. (To be fair we were offered and accepted dinners at their very nice modern restaurant at the other end of Wengen – highly recommended.) On our initial arrival at Hotel Falken we were invited to sit in the lounge whilst the manager went to get us a welcome drink. How pleasant. Then she came and gave us a verbal list of meal-times, where and where not to put the key etc, etc, etc. Too much to take in after a 15-hour journey and could so easily have been in written form. This lady did not, at least to us, have a welcoming smile and was devoid of warmth. It was good to back in Wengen again.

Perfectly lovely! Historic rooms, dream-like view of the alps, friendly staff, great breakfasts with fresh warm bread, tasty cheeses, delicious yogurts. Very clean & well appointed room , antiquated but very safe room keys & locks, fluffy bed comforters and did I mention the view? In a word, the Hotel Falken is Idyllic in every way. We highly recommend the Hotel Falken but would caution that it is a slightly steep but invigorating path up to this eyrie.

We adored this hotel. We appreciate the charm and antique details, like the classic room keys and lighting in the room. The shower was great, with plenty of heat and water pressure. I was surprised to see a little basket of amenities, like shaving kit, in the bathroom. But most importantly, the staff was so great. We’re always nervous about language barriers, but the hotel desk staff and the breakfast/dinner waitress, Lucy, made our stay stress free. We loved getting to know Lucy. She was so sweet and made us feel cared for. We will definitely recommend this to all our friends.

Had a week’s half board at this hotel as part of an Inghams ski package. Good value for what we had and location. Hotel is full of character and one of oldest if not the oldest in Wengen. Family owned and evidence of that throughout the hotel. Hotel in places hasn’t changed for some years so don’t expect modern. Great bar with lovely views. Limited seating. The barman Marco has been there many years, is very friendly and a real asset to the hotel. There are other areas throughout hotel to sit in so when bar is full the lobby area could be busy too. On our first night there was an amazing pianist and singer. No tvs in rooms but there was one room downstairs with a Tv. Bedrooms were fine but nothing special. Could do with a couple of extra hooks for towels, jackets etc. Floors tend to creak. There is a lift to all floors. Plenty of hot water. We had lovely views over the village. Food was taken in the dining room with table cloths and weighty cutlery. Breakfast was ok but staff struggled to restock so despite relatively few guests we often had to wait for plates, bowls, fruit etc to be topped up. Can recommend the chefs muesli. Otherwise, bread, cheese, cold meats, fruit, yogurt and a pancake machine. Would benefit from hand sanitiser in this area. Evening meal was average. Four courses a fish, meat and vegetarian main course. First night was a buffet. Vegetarian choice was ok but very cheese based and not a lot of vegetables. I think hôtel would struggle with a vegan diet. Location is slightly up the hill away from the village but with great views over the village. Can be seen on the Wengen webcam. When snow is good you can ski to from the hotel if coming from Kleine Scheidegg. However, snow on that run was getting very slushy and if coming from Murren you would need to walk up hill in ski boots with skis so a few times we left our skis and boots at Central Sport. This is 4chf per person and was worth it for us.

We enjoyed our stay at the Falken. It is a traditional Swiss hotel, with tons of historical character in a location convenient for the trains and cable cars of Wengen. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit, the hotel is clean and set in a beautiful alpine location. We enjoyed full board, which was ideal for us as we were day hiking. We didn’t sample lunch. The bar and coffees were a bit too pricey for us, but above average for Switzerland (I think!) The evening meals were varied and tasty, with choices for the evening meal made at breakfast - which suited us. Our 13 year old enjoyed the pancakes at breakfast, which was continental, not cooked. Falken is a busy hotel, which we liked, because we got to meet other guests at mealtimes and discuss our holidays. There are lounge areas if a more quiet time is what you need. We liked it, and would certainly use it again.

Amazing scenery from this late 18th century ski chalet. We stopped for two nights with a tour group and had a great time. Had great cheese fondue, a yodeling performance, best hot cocoa. And excellent customer service - my daughter left her favorite stuffed animal in her room when we left. The hotel got in touch with our tour director, and then us, and shipped the bunny to her home in California. Thank you to the good people at Hotel Falken!

Hotel Falken just canceled my confirmed reservation for 2 rooms, 4 days before our scheduled arrival. The confirmations were attributed to “a system error”, which went undetected for 2 weeks — until a group happened to be booked for the same arrival date. Had I canceled, I would have forfeited 100% of the total 3-day charges. The hotel did not even offer to help us find alternative accommodations. I have booked many hotels in the past 50 years, and this is a first for me. Extremely unprofessional and inconvenient.

This is a well established hotel with many admirers and in season usually fully booked, so we were delighted to find dates when we could make a reservation, albeit in out of season. Given that we knew it would be low season, we also thought it would be wise to choose an hotel with its own restaurant, as we were feeling lazy. We are not night owls, so didn't really want to be out much at night after a day of walking. Having read the glowing description on the Hotel website about the restaurant, we were really looking forward to eating there. As a result, we were more than just disappointed when we arrived to be told that the restaurant was closed for Low Season. There had been nothing about this on the Hotel Falken website and we pointed this out to the Proprietor. She had no explanation other than to keep repeating the mantra 'I cannot keep the hotel kitchen open in low season for only a few guests'. We said that we understood this but pointed our that, as we had booked the hotel largely on the basis of their restaurant, they should at least have put a notice concerning this on their website to warn prospective customers. In our view it was just sharp practice. After this disappointing news, it took more than half a wine glass of room temperature apple juice (the 'welcome drink) to lift our spirits. Dinner in the only two restaurants open in the village that week was a 10/15 minute walk away - it rained on two of the nights and we got soaked. There was no transport available from the hotel, which would have been a problem, had we been much older or had a disability. The Falken prides itself on tradition and the lounge and ambience there is charming - but in need of an update. There is a fine line between what is elegant and what is looking tired and past its best and it seemed to us that the Falken had crossed that line. Finding a comfortable seat on the ancient furniture was not an easy thing to do and the beds are similarly basic, as was the buffet breakfast. Apart from a pancake machine, the only other hot option was scrambled eggs - every single morning of our 5 night stay. All in all, we did not enjoy our stay at the Falken - and at a 'low season' rate of EU.275 pn for a double, thought it poor value. By the way - don't even think about walking from the station with heavy bags at the end of a long journey unless you are very fit. It may not be far, but its uphill all the way - the last part of it very steep.
