I travelled with wife and 14 year old son to Taj Wayanad in the last week of October 2024. We had very high expectations of the place given that we had heard a lot of good things about the hotel from friends, blogs and fellow travellers. And boy, they did exceed all our expectations! Property: Nestled on the edge of Banasura lake and overlooking the Banasura hills, the location of the property is staright out of a castle in a fairy tale! Taking in the sweeping views of the water and the lush green hills as you have breakfast is likely to instantly soothe your soul and detox the mind of it's worries. The calm, serenity, peace added to the stunning views make the surroundings such a treat for city dwellers like us. The breathtaking views present themselves from very corner of the property, be it the restaurant, the rooms, the jogging/walkings track, the reception - practically from every corner of the property. Rooms: All rooms to my knowledge have good to great views of the lake and the hills. The villas are set very close to the lake, the cottages a little bit higher and the other guest rooms are in the main builing with the reception and the restaurant. The villa that we stayed in was very spacious and extremely well appointed. The luxury villa and the pool villa are situated very close to the lake and have a quaint sitting area outside the villa, where you read a book as the day goes by or take a nap lulled by the sounds of the water beaking against the lake shore. Absolute bliss and a completely detressing expeience! Food: The food was outstanding during the four nights that we stayed there. There was a wide variety of cuisines and dishes and practically everything that we ordered was finger lickingingly good. We had 6 meals there and inspite of that, we never felt bored and hardly repeated dishes during our stay. The highlight of our food experience was the Onam Sadhya Thali that Chef Raj and his team had put together. It was so good I would travel all the way to Taj Wayand only to have the Onam sadhya. Service: Over and over again, the one time that sets Taj apart from other hotels, at least in India, is the phenomenal service. Chef Raj at the restaurant elevated our food and restaurant experience to the next level. He is a shining star, an asset to the team and we felt truly pampered by him during our stay there. From suggestions everyday on trying new dishes (all of which were very good) to arranging for a goodbye pastry the day we were leaving, he truly made our stay memorable. There were plenty or other examples of great service throughout our stay. A special shout out to Akhil, Ganesh, Ankit and Roshan at the restaurant and Lina, Sharath, Bibina and Ujjwal at the reception. Hari, the front desk manager, made us comfortable on arrival and helped us upgrade our rooms seamlessly for a part of the stay. The team also planned a little birthday surprise for my wife at the evening tea on one of the days, which she truly appreciates. It
