Visiwa Beach Resort

Liked this place, very friendly staff and right on the beach. Comfortable rooms and the Italian ownership is reflected in the excellent ( and filling) pizzas and food at lunch and dinner. Slightly disappointing breakfasts I felt with lots of pastries but the Spanish omelettes were good. The only irritating point was the dreadful “lift” music played throughout the lovely garden area where you were blasted by bass sound without any idea of what the song was. Staff were happy to turn it down but I have no idea why they would play music is such an idyllic spot?

The best property in Watamu. We went everywhere looking for a hotel that offerred a comfortable stay, and Visiwa was the only one that had everything we needed. Beachfront, safe with security staff abound, fantastic ocean views from the room, excellent restaurant, all very clean, powerful hot shower, plenty of room, good amenieties, great trip organizing, fabulous surroundings, and incredible Gisela that never seems to sleep and always found time to make our stay as luxurious as possible!

Absolutely Fabulous. Everything delivered! We came off of two weeks of rough safari in much need of R & R. We definitely picked the right place! The food, coffee, drinks, and service were exceptional. The ambiance and views of the seven isles from the open air dining, and pool area, room, and balcony were nothing short of stunning. Visiwa never missed a beat when it came to details.

Visiwa is a nice and pretty resort right on the beach with astonishing ocean views rooms and an excellent Italian restaurant which is probably one of the best around here. Service is very personal and accurate. We stayed for 3 nights, but I imagine spend a week without any problems.

Lovely hotel. We stayed here with a couple of friends for a couple of nights. The rooms were very clean. It was scorching hot, but the AC in the room worked well. The staff incl. management were verynice and helpful. We ate at the restaurant multiple times and the food was good. Good spot by the beach.

On the good side - beautiful location, not too big property right by the beach, nice interior design, rooms have air conditioning. What we didn’t like: breakfast wasn’t great, terrace very hot, “coffee” is a help-yourself-tin of cheap local instant powder. Service is very inconsistent and unreliable from room cleaning to unmotivated waiters (the young trainees were nice though). We were given the opportunity to take a seaview room against extra charge - the room stank from a pipe drainage problem, management was aware of it and still sold it to us as upgrade option. Pool times are limited only from 9.00-17.30, so you can’t use it in the earlier or later hours when the tropical sun is less intense. You always have to walk through the bar and lobby when going or coming from swimming. Food is more expensive than other Italian places in walking distance. All in all a place with potential, but for us not an overwhelming experience.
