Wangdue EcoLodge

We stayed for a night at the ecolodge before our transit to Paro. An amazing location , very kind staff & great room. We had the view of the wangdue fortress from our room and it just gets better once the night falls. The food was excellent , they served us chocolate mint tea at our welcome, homegrown at their lodge. The dinner was a spread of Bhutanese food with very fresh ingredients. Overall, we loved our stay and we would definitely recommend this place .

Beautiful, tranquil setting, would highly recommend staying here. The road here is something else, unpaved & narrow but the end goal is well worth it. Wonderful host & very friendly staff, we were made very welcome. Great local Bhutanese food. Wonderful appointed rooms with great scenery over looking the valley & Dzong. We really enjoyed our time here & wish we had longer here!

Amazing stay with extremely friendly staff. They make food with their own produce from the farm. The rooms are very spacious and the view from the balcony is definitely worth it! Try to reach the place early before sunset to make the best use of the experience.

Stay at Wangdue Ecolodge was one of the most memorable experiences for me and my husband. We were there for 2 nights and it was simply lovely. The entire place is very efficiently managed by a team of 5 people. The manager and his wife are very cordial and hospitable. The bathroom is very spacious and beautiful..one could spend hours there....the balcony is also very spacious and offers a lovely view of the mountains. The lodge is clean and well maintained. Last but not the least the food is very clean and delicious. We were served local Bhutanese cuisine such as feddlehead fry, squash fry and various types of Datshi (potatoes, mushrooms, cauliflower) and fresh fruit for dessert. Definitely a must visit !!

We were travelling independently and arrived by taxi, very easy to arrange. Amazing food and very friendly welcoming owners and staff. My husband enjoyed an impromptu cooking lesson in the kitchen. We hiked from here, in all directions, without a guide, with no worries about getting lost. Very peaceful place in a lovely setting, definitely recommend to others.

Amazing view, wonderful & helpful staff. The food there was the best we had in the2 weeks we spend in BHUTAN. The rooms were large, the bathroom in stone & shower hot. The only comment we made to management was that the bedrooms needed at least 1 brighter light for reading. Overall, 1 of the best places we stayed in & that included the 5 star Forest Hotel. Not to forget that a lot of there vegetables came from their own garden & being vegan that meant a lot!

Special Energy in this ecologically responsible lodging. The owners pride themselves on organic produce and farm-sourced meals. The views of the cloud forest from the terrace are breathtaking. All the details are attended to here. I felt very cared for. Stay here if you enjoy peace of mind.

I have missed this place since the moment we left. Had I had it my way, I would have extended my stay. Stay here when you come, it will set the tone for an unforgettable trip. After a timely airport pickup, our expert and friendly driver took us to the lodge. A long and beautiful drive through the mountains, punctuated by a tea stop in a circular lodge enveloped by clouds, culminated with the arrival to this most spectacular location. The lodge's layout is brilliant, all rooms are equally spacious and elegant, and have a beautiful large balcony with a view to the valley, the river and the fort. Make an effort for an early morning - the clouds rising from the mountains are a sight to behold. Slept soundly enveloped by silence on a very comfortable bed with deliciously soft bedding; appreciated the cleanliness, the big airy bathroom, thoughtful lighting and a cute little booth table. The staff, caring and friendly, crafts incredible meals out of home-grown ingredients. Served in a cozy, plant filled dining room or al fresco, they nourish body and soul after days of hiking and exploring all there is to see. A bargain for the price, do come with a loose agenda, you might want to reconsider your plans! Can't recommend enough.

Had a lovely time at the Ecolodge, it's a magical place. Just the right mix of luxury and home comforts. We were greeted with cups of lemon verbena tea and fruits/veg grown in the garden. Kitchen staff is friendly and attentive, make sure to tell them that you like to eat spicy food and you'll be treated to the most delicious of homegrown chilis! Amazing and dramatic views of the Fort from the balcony, and there are many interesting day trips to be taken less than 30 minutes drive from the lodge. Highly recommend!
