Fantastic winter getaway. The location is perfect to access Wakefield Trails and enter Gatineu Park on foot. The owners, Louise and Claude, are the true gems; they are so warm and welcoming, and they go out of the way to add little touches that you would not get at a hotel chain. Louise is an angel! There are ample options for nordic ski, fat tire winter bikes, and snow shoe rentals from multiple companies-- all within walking distance. Belle De Nuit Wakefield Inn is a short walk (10 minutes or less) into town where there are several cute restaurants, cafes & bakeries, live music venues, and other shops. The hot tub was right outside our door and excellent to come back to after all day snow shoe -ing. I loved the little electric fireplace in the Venice room, you don't have to worry about smoke and ash from a log fire, it has a powerful heater built in and it looks way more realistic than some of the built-in fire places you can get. I want one for home! We were pleasantly surprised that our room had a full kitchen with a stove, sink, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, pots, cooking cutlery, coffee, tea, sugar, cream, salt & pepper. The parking spots in front almost all have EV chargers (I think there are 6 or 8 in total). The chargers are not Level 2. In the spring/summer/fall, this is no problem, but if you come in winter and it is negative -20 temps the parking lot chargers will basically give you enough power to keep the battery warm overnight but not enough to actually charge. If you want a Level 2 charger in Wakefield you can go to the Bonet Pharmacy or you can call the Trois Erables Inn which is 1 minute away and ask if you can use their Level 2 charger. We called and offered to pay to use the Trois Erable Inn level 2 charger, and they let us use it overnight for a price -- nevertheless, it is not guaranteed you can use the Trois Erable level 2.
