The hotel is beautiful and staff are lovely. Although we had a lot of rain we still had a great time. Food is very good and nice selection of drinks although we would have like wine included in the all inclusive package rather than just one glass at lunch and dinner.

Royal palm Beach hotel our stay was very fantastic the pool was aways well cleaned and all the pool attendants could not do enough for you as well as all the staff through out the hotel. Food was very nice, rooms were spot less and cleaned every day . During our stay the hotel had to make some changes to the sea defences and large rocks was placed to the sea front with minimal noise and disturbance unlike other guests are making out . If they had asked to be moved the hotel would of happily moved them. Building the defence walls was something the hotel had to do after the tsunami to protect the hotel and guests . We was all given a day to the beach with free shuttle service. and some had free restaurant meal at a different restaurant and still moaned no pleasing some guests aways looking for the negative Never positive we had a lovely two weeks and would go back

This was my 12th visit go this Hotel and again the could not do enough for me. Huge thank you to Duminda, Jude ,Roshanthu some of the bell boys and to Dilhani and the ladies and gentlemen on reception for all their help. Sarath and the pool men kept the pool really clean and the surrounding areas. Again the food and choice of food was really good so thanks to all the kitchen staff and service in the restaurant. No doubt i will be back as will people i met on their first visits their, some have already said they will return. Again thank you all from houekeeping to management for another memorable stay I look forward to seeing you all again and hope you manage to resolve the beach issues.

if you have booked this hotel through TUI ... there is no beach its been washed away some time ago. The hotel would be better described as an ocean fronted hotel as there is no land separating the sea and the property. The hotel itself is fine the food is nice and I must say the staff were lovely !

Trip started well but sadly Hotel is let down badly by Management and their poor communication. It is true that gardens became a building site in second week and this overshadowed the excellent Service in the main. There was no warning of the arrival of the JCB’s and Trucks from Management and this was, in my opinion, a serious dereliction of duty. The resultant dust caused an exacerbation of my asthma symptoms and this absolutely could have been avoided. When I pointed this out to Customer Relations and Management they didn’t seem interested or even willing to offer a satisfactory apology. I was just glad I wasn’t hospitalised given the conditions, it was a close call. There was no area cordoned off and trucks were in danger of causing trees to fall over area with sunbathers, it defied belief, the level of incompetence knows no bounds. Hotel also Managed to lose our room key (comment from Reception was “let us know if you have lost any valuables”) and spoil our Anniversary Meal (poor experience in A-La-Carte Restaurant), Customer Relations offered very little in compensation, they begrudgingly acknowledged problems but received no proper apology. Management communication on the topic was non-existent, will be pursuing proper compensation through Mercury Travel.

Royal Palms Beach hotel is indeed a hotel without beach, but we knew that in advance by reading some reviews and by doing some research - so for us no problem at all. Knowing that there is a huge swimmingpool to enjoy and with water having more then a nice temperature. Great thx to Ms Dilhani who gave us a great welcome by arriving at the hotel. She guided us to our spacious, quit room (with view on the pool and sea) which was already cleaned and available in the morning. So we were lucky. All staff are very friendly, helpful, … We had all inclusive and from breakfast until dinner … everything was tasty, warm, enough choice, varied,… If only one point of criticism, some cocktails (with juices) are blended with water. But ok, as alcohol is quit expensive overthere maybe that can be the reason why?? The waiters in the main restaurant were also and always friendly, helpful and with a big smile… especially Manjula, Sanjeewa, Suluni and Himasha. The rooms were always well cleaned in the morning and in the late afternoon there was a second checkup. At the pool there were always enough loungers. From the poolboys we received every morning fresh washed towels. We did a 2 day trip (Ella and Kandy) and a day tour to Galle with SANKATOURS. All was very well organized and at a good price. The office of Sanka is situated between the hotel (300m) and the main road. We really looking forward to go back to Royal Palms and this nice island.

We went to the Royal Palms Beach Hotel for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. Holiday started really well, we were very impressed with the Service and range of food in the Main Restaurant. However, we booked our Anniversary Meal in one of the 2 A-La-Carte restaurants, the Cabana Beach Bar & Restaurant. Despite emailing ahead in advance we were not expected when we got there (although the fact one of the tables had Happy Anniversary on it should have been clue to waiter that greeted us and doubted our booking), some of staff were awol at this point and despite appearing after several minutes it took them more than 5 minutes to got a menu to us, ambiance was really poor and Service was not with a smile which we had been used to - it felt an inferior experience so we decided to go back to Main Restaurant. We voiced our concerns in Reception with Management but did not feel like they were listening which is a big concern for a Five Star Hotel wanting to maintain high standards across all areas of the Hotel, not quite Silver Service sadly!

This beach hotel does not have a beach. The train speeds by and usually the horn goes and starts around 6am. The main restaurant is like a canteen and the other 2 small restaurants you have to pay extra for. This is not a 5* hotel, perhaps a 3*. Booked through Mercury who are happy to sell this as a beach hotel.

A beautiful hotel overlooking the Indian Ocean. We wanted somewhere ideal for a special celebration, and this hotel filled all our expectations. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean by the house staff, our room attendant Udayanga occasionally surprised us with towel animals on our bed. The pool areas never feel crowded, the swim-up bar serves a wide variety of drinks and is a great place to meet new people of all nationalities. The choice of foods in the restaurant should satisfy even the most fussy eaters. All in all, 5 stars isn’t enough. We will quite happily be returning, as do many of the other guests we’ve spoken with.
