Welcome Hotel

Stayed here 10 days . Excellent location on seafront and great view from balcony.10 mins to old village Eze, Nice - close to Menton. Bedroom ok. Thin walls tho . Good espresso machine in room. Air con . Room ok but no extras after an initial small L’Occitane extra .( Didn’t need the chocolates everyday ) . Very unappealing ‘lounge’ like an old airport lounge and a dated uniform blue . Could make such a difference if updated there with plants etc and still have the nautical theme and homage to Cocteau etc . We didn’t sit in it once ! Also the bar shockingly closed before 11 ! Once even at 10.50 staff rushed off as we returned from dinner .So expect to be able to get a night cap until midnight in a 4 star. Hmm. It was a little thing we enjoy on holidays and it became a stress?! Parking is extremely expensive at the Wilson and the Citadel - we discovered on day 5 how to get it very cheaply - ie £25 for five days as opposed to 250 we had just paid for our first 5! The tourist office can help with details but you go to the local traffic office - yards away from the hotel - and get a traffic pass. The sandy beach at Marnières is a 7 min walk away, crowded in August but still lovely . Loved Villefranche-sur-Mer itself and still had a good holiday and wish the Welcome the best but this is an honest review .

This is a lovely hotel with excellent staff and balcony views over Mediterranean Sea. Close to train station and Ubers are minutes away. Can be anywhere on French Rivera in an hour or less. We stayed five nights and hated to leave. Almost all staff can speak English.

We just love this hotel! Always surprises me when there are negative comments. We have stayed in the past and came back this year with two other couples. We have always found the staff polite , helpful and accommodating. We love the connection to artists and Jean Couteau. Nothing better than sitting on our balcony in the morning watching everything wake up! I wouldn’t change a thing! We love your sweet spot here on the Cote D’Azur!

Spent 3 nights here and took the sea view room. The entire stay was just perfect. We had a little balcony with the sea right infront of us and we would sit and relax watching the view and the amazing calm vibes of Villefranche. The room was a good size, the concierge and staff were so friendly and helpful Stephane and Mahmoud especially gave us some great tips and were always so welcoming. If you're going to the south of france, villefranche is a great place to be based for a few nights to make a few close day trips.

Stayed for 4 nights early August, perfect location, views from bedroom amazing. Staff could not have been more helpful, anything we asked for was attended to within minutes. Room very clean. good value.So So convenient. Can't wait to return

This was our second trip to Villefranche and we decided to opt for the Welcome Hotel instead of an Airbnb. To say the Welcome Hotel missed the mark would be a massive understatement. The hotel is old (even though we had "a renovated room") and worn, the front desk staff were quite rude, and the housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. We stayed for 5 nights and our sheets were never changed, our sink was overflowing and never fixed, and there were strange smells throughout our stay ranging from sewage to cigarettes to musty/mold. It's important to note that there are no vanity kits, body lotion, or conditioner in the bathrooms. The front desk asked us on a daily basis if we took anything from the minibar (which we didn't) and even charged us to use beach towels! They definitely nickel and dime you and for the price of over 3k for 5 nights, you would expect better service. We asked to have a late checkout (NOON!) and could not be accommodated. This certainly is not a 4 star hotel - it's 3 stars AT BEST, with the only positive being the close proximity to the beach, restaurants, and the neighboring towns in the French Riviera. I absolutely won't come back to the Welcome Hotel, and if you're considering staying here, you're better off at an Airbnb.

We spent 3 nights at the Welcome Hotel last month. What a treat! We had a corner room with 2 balconies. The views of the bay and harbor were wonderful! The room was spotless, a decent size, beautifully decorated and well appointed. The staff were phenomenal. They were always friendly and helpful. I wish I could remember the young man’s name who brought our luggage to our room. He was so friendly and helpful in so many ways. The hotel was located perfectly for restaurants, the train, Uber pickups, shopping. The only suggestion I would have would be to request a room on the side of the hotel away from the square. The restaurants in that area play music until pretty late in the evening. It might bother you if you are a light sleeper. But I have no reservations in recommending the Welcome Hotel.

Thank you for making what likely was our final visit to Villefranche memorable. We have stayed at the hotel a number of times over the years and on many occasions rented an apartment in the Palais Marine. Villefranche is a special place for us. You have done a wonderful job of upgrading the hotel. Our room 32 was excellent. Frederick and Marisol truly are amazing. They are problem solvers who assist guest at every opportunity. The bar/breakfast and its staff are exceptional. Thank you for all of this. We had one problem: the hotel lost a pair of my pants, trousers. I arrived with four; one was sent to the hotel laundry never to be seen again; I left with three. On enquiry by the hotel when my pants were not with the returned clean laundry, the hotel was informed that although the laundry slip included a pair of pants, there were no pants in the bag. Somehow they disappeared between reception, where my wife left the laundry in the morning, and the laundry facility. Sadly and surprisingly, the hotel took no responsibility for this. It is not what I expected from the Welcome Hotel. I provide some background information that may assist. As noted previously, you lost a pair of pants that were in laundry processed through the hotel. The pants were purchased (not overly expensive) for our trip to France. They were worn twice. I spilled something on them. We decided to send out laundry at the hotel mainly to have the pants cleaned. They were placed in a hotel laundry bag with a slip showing the pants and other items. The bag that was quite full was deposited by my wife at reception in the morning. Subsequently, a staff person looked in the bag and noted our room number had not been included on the laundry slip. A staff member approached my wife at breakfast and obtained the number. The laundry was returned later that day. We noticed that the pants were not included. I went to reception and later was advised that the laundry had noted that the pants were included on the laundry slip, but were not in the bag. I was advised that steps would be taken to find them. Other than making inquiries of staff, I do not know what was done. It was inferred that we had not included the pants in the laundry bag. Apart from being inconsistent with the surrounding facts on why we sent clothes to the hotel laundry, there are two facts that are inconsistent with this; one is subjective; the other is objective: my wife has a clear recollection of putting the pants in the bag that was quite full; if the pants were not included in the bag, they would still be with us, which they are not. The laundry was entrusted to the hotel. The pants apparently disappeared between hotel reception and the laundry facility. I simply do not understand why the Welcome Hotel has not recognized this fact and taken responsi
