We chose Vilalba for its location close to Lugo and Santiago. The paradore is the usual mix of comfort and efficiency although the bathroom fittings were a little tired - no bidet for instance. We were not advised that the historic tower was undergoing major renovation and was covered up by a large hauling. That said we saw no work actually taking place. Vilalba and the paradore lacked vitality. The hotel was dark and always very quiet lacking any atmosphere in the bar. The town was a major disappointment - there were only 3 restaurants open in the evening. A good pizza place, a super little restaurant down the hill from our hotel which was not open the day we arrived and a small bar which had just one bad Trip Advisor review several years old. There were many empty shops and nearly every business appeared to be for sale. This paradore needs to be in Lugo, a cracking town about 30 minutes away which is attractive and buzzing. So to summarise a great location but not a hotel we would revisit.
