Pestana Porto Santo Beach Resort & Spa

Great hotel resort with All Inclusive meals and drinks. Excellent service and good quality amenities. Evening entertainment mainly suitable for families, with young children which is understandable.

Ongeziene keuze bij ontbijt!!! Sommige gasten ruimden zelf hun plastieken bekertjes en bakjes niet op, door de wind gingen die dan op de grond en dat leek dan soms niet zo proper. Hotelpersoneel probeert wel snel op te ruimen.

Just returned from a week at the Pestana hotel. As per a number of the other reviews, I honestly wouldn't rate this more than a 3 star hotel, and thats even with taking into account the rating levels for other regions. On arrival at our room, everything looked clean and tidy, even if it was a little basic and dated (bearing in mind this is listed as a four star plus hotel). However, we did notice that one of the bath robes was blood stained. This was taken away by the cleaning team but never replaced. In the room, there is a small fridge. This has some bottled water and 2 small cartons of juice. These were only refreshed a couple of times during our stay. We found that the beds had mattrass protectors, but as these are such low quality plastic items, its feels like you are sleeping on bin liners. One thing you will get use to, is queuing at the Pestana. At all meal times, you find find you have to queue to get a table allocated for you. Then once seated, you will find that you are very crammed in with the next people dining. It certainly isn't a relaxed dining experience. Added to that, you will find one small counter with deserts, then two others covering meat, vegetables and salads. In short, the restaurant feels more like a canteen built for a hotel a third of the size. There are few "al a carte" restaurants that will be automatically booked for you. The best thing about these, is that you are away from the crowds for an evening. The food quality was mixed, but still made a welcome change from the canteen style in the main building. a couple of low points were a duck breast that you could genuinely not get a fork into, then a creme brulee that was a greasy eggy soup. Having said all of that, if you use the hotel as a base and get out an explore the island, Porto Santo really is worth a visit, with some amazing views, lovely little bars and caffes, and the locals are very friendly. One last point to note, this is a very small island out in the Atlantic, so expect the weather to be changeable at best

We’ve been a week on this amazing resort . The weather wasn’t that good but the resort has everything. We loved playing paddel, ping pong and dancing . All the staff are amazing , always ready to give a help with a smile . Plenty of food and drinks all the time . The atmosphere was simply perfect , with a fantastic entertaining team , all of them fantastic but need to speak about 2 people on the team : Abdel , the man from Marrocos, a great person always ready to play paddel or ping pong , and to have a good conversation. Iara, from Lisbon , amazing person always smiling and ready to push us to dance ….the perfect happiness. Miss you both

The weather was a bit grim with cloud and drizzle and the locals complaining it was worse than their January, but a great holiday in spite of this. The hotel is in a fantastic location and we enjoyed some long walks along the gorgeous beach, having it virtually to ourselves in the evenings. Pool area is clean and relaxing with plenty of sun chairs dotted around. The weak point is the restaurant as many have commented. It is too small for the number of guests so small queues do build up and it can all get a bit loud and service of drinks can fall between cracks. But it’s not really a huge issue, a few minutes queuing here and there and the odd thing running out. Food quality was good and always something to eat, including for a vegetarian. You can eat outside which tended to be quieter and three nights of the week you get to eat in the themed restaurants which are very quiet and sedate with very tasty menus. Staff worked very hard in all areas, special mention to the cleaning staff, the rooms were spotless. It gets most of its English guests via Tui (the entire plane went to this hotel but check in was dealt with very quickly and cleverly) and the two Tui reps (especially Lauren) were excellent and constantly on hand if you needed them. Very small island buts lots of interesting stuff, with beaches and viewing points and sand dunes… and as it was Sao Joao festival that week, probably the best fireworks display we have ever seen.

Good and not so good points hence the score 3 out of 5. We have just come back from a 2 week holiday. We had a suite which was lovely, very comfortable, quality of bedding and towels very old and worn but clean, and the furniture also is very old and dated. The cleaning staff are such hard workers and work hard to clean the rooms and also very friendly and polite. TUI advertised that there were ‘adult only’ areas such as a pool and spa and a bar. We noticed that all the so called ‘adult only ‘ areas were used constantly by families and small children, especially the spa pool area which was supposed to be adults only between 5pm and 8pm, it always had adults with children using it at that time. The staff appeared to ignored the fact that adults only should have been able to have their time too. We definitely wouldn’t have chosen this place for a holiday if it had been advertised for families with children only because that’s what it is! The restaurant served a good variety of food but it was always overcrowded being too small for the amounts of people using it, hence people having to queue to get a table to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff are run off their feet to try to accommodate the overcrowded restaurant making the eating experience quite stressful and certainly not relaxing. Beautiful beach and we enjoyed lots of walking, the Christopher Columbus museum in town and the festival with fireworks. Also visiting the Girassol cafe bar regularly where we were made welcome by friendly locals and watched sport.

A fantastic week break on this beautiful island. A warm welcome was followed by a speedy check-in. Lovely spacious room which was cleaned and replenished daily. The buffet restaurant could get busy but there was always a good selection of food, with drinks served with a smile to your table. The Animation team were around during the day, offering activities and games to join. The bar in the evening served excellent cocktails and the views from the terrace were amazing. Definitely an island to return to.

I spent lovely two weeks at Pestana resort. It was my second visit there and I wasn’t disappointed. I loved it! I had a great and relaxing holiday again. I travelled with TUI. The reps Daria and Lauren were very friendly, kind and helpful, always ready to answer any questions. Hotel and beach are beautiful! Pools kept clean, all staff very helpful and friendly. I used all 4 a la carte restaurants and my favourite one was Koi and Mediterranean. Fully recommend them! Animation team staff were very good, all of them were lovely. Special shout out to Abdel who was always professional and passionate about everything from entertainment shows to fitness classes! I attended his Pilates, Aqua Aerobics and yoga classes and I thoroughly enjoyed them! He is giving 100% . Also his attitude to children is brilliant. I will definitely come back to Porto Santo and Pestana hotel in the future.
