La Malartrie fully deserves the 5.0 rating on TripAdvisor. The location is terrific, in Vézac, but a 10 minute walk from La Roque de Cageac, one of the most beautiful villages in France, probably somewhere at the top of that official designation. The town has many restaurants. There Manoir is located at a short drive from many of the most famous sites in the Dordogne, including Lascaux, Jardin de Marqueyssac, the medieval castles of Castlenaud and Beynac-Et-Cazenac, Josehine Bakers castle Milandes, and other Plus Beaux Villages such as Domme and at. Leon sur Vezere. The Manoir is wedged between the Dordogne River and the cliff carved out by the river. The cliff causes a subtropical microclimate because of its exposure to the sun by day. The grounds of la Malartrie are gorgeous, with several terraces, flowers, large rock boulders, lounging chairs and a pool. The building is classic, with a large room for breakfast. We stayed outside of the main building, in one of the suites that has a lot of privacy, with a kitchen, living room and bedroom. The suite was elegantly furnished, clean, and overlooked the grounds and the Dordogne River. While all this is ample reason for a five star review, Wafa and her husband make a stay at the Malartrie special. No effort is too much to make guests feel comfortable and at home. The breakfast has an astonishing selection of cheeses, cakes, breads, dried and fresh fruits, cereals and eggs made to order. We looked forward to breakfast every day. If we come back to the Dordogne again, we’ll surely stay at La Malartrie again. It’s simply the best.
