I would like to express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at Hotel Historia Malomkert Veszprem. We booked suite (No. 224) for three nights, based on the description on hotel website which stated: “Our suite has a living room and separate bedroom, minibar, telephone, air-condition etc.” Unfortunately, the actual room did not match this description in any meaningful way. What we received was a small attic room with tiny skylight windows and a non-functioning air conditioner. The “separate bedroom” intended for our child was in fact just a child’s bed placed behind a low partition wall, approximately one meter high—not a separate room by any standard. I repeatedly asked for the air conditioner to be repaired, but each time I was told that the issue would be fixed soon. Eventually I was informed that the air conditioning system in the entire hotel was not working. During the day, even with windows open, the temperature inside the room rose to 27.5°C, which made it very uncomfortable. In addition, the bathroom did not have a bathtub or hair conditioner, and the latter was not available from reception either. I requested a 50% refund to reflect the absence of the advertised second room and working air conditioning. However, the reception staff responded that “air conditioning was present, just not working” and that “actually, two rooms means that you have a separate living area and bedroom area.” I was offered a maximum of a 10% discount, which I declined, as it did not reflect the scale of the shortcomings. As a result, I paid the full price for a suite that did not meet the advertised standards or our expectations. I am therefore submitting this formal complaint and hope that appropriate action will be taken to prevent future guests from facing similar disappointments.
