Beautiful place. The hotel is unbelievable. So grand, so charming and elegant. So pleased we experienced the hotel before it’s refurbished. It will be so sad if some of the detail in the hotel is changed to something more modern. The hotel has been well looked after up until now and the classic features maintained. We loved every single thing about this hotel. Staff were fab also.

What a wonderful, traditional hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised. Our room was huge with a lovely view of the lake. Staff were very friendly and all extremely helpful. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight. Super location for the village and ferries. We couldn't fault a thing. Thank you.

Having not returned to the Grand Hotel Gardone since 2019 we were keen to go before its 40 million Euro refit for the next 2 years. She was as beautiful and elegant as ever with so much character however because of closing soon some things from 5 years ago have now gone. The conceierge who would greet you when you arrived - gone, now just a bunch of young receptionists clearly only brought in when the owners hastily decided to reopen this year for the summer season. Don't get me wrong they are all lovely and very helpful but the uniform was just a polo shirt and black jeans or trousers, this is not befitting this grand and beautiful hotel, i hope when the hotel opens again the uniform will be looked at and made to be as grand as the hotel. Secondly the breakfast - once upon a time there would be a waitress waiting at the door to take your room number and take you to a table. None of that now, to be honest any tom, dick or harry could just rock up and have breakfast...no-one would have known. There are no tea cups or coffee cups on the table, you have to get those yourself along with the coffee or tea you want from a machine - yuk ! We used to be asked what we would like and it was brought to us. They used to have a chef outside on the terrace area, cooking fresh eggs, omelets and pancakes..not now. Everything was in turines with big heavy lids and the pancakes clearly out of a packet. Breakfast was aimed more at continental, with hams, salads, fish and alot of cakes. Sometimes i did wonder if it was lunch and not breakfast ! I gave up on having the scrambled eggs (very stodgy) and bacon (not grilled enough and very salty) However, our room was lovely, if a little old fashioned but then thats why the hotel will have a refit. We had one of three rooms over the lounge area that had big terraces. We had very comfy loungers and an umbrella. The pool area was as lovely as ever as was the decking near to the lake edge. The only thing i would complain about was the steps into the lake. They clearly needed cleaning on a more regular basis as they were very slippery with algae, but this was a minor thing. The gardens of the hotel and the plants going up the hotel facade were as beautiful as ever and are really well maintained. We saw the gardener every day maintaining the plants and the pathways. The location of the hotel to the ferry stop is brilliant and you can literally turn up 2 minutes before as you see the ferries coming in easily. Can't wait to see the refit on this beautiful hotel but i hope they don't kill the character of it. See you in a couple of years ❤

My wife and I had a lovely stay at this fabulous old hotel; yes it does need a lick of paint in places but hopefully the impending refurbishments won't compromise its fantastic period charm. Whilst some have noted a slight deterioration in staff quality, we thought Barbara the manager and all her front-line team were excellent. Our Jet2 rep' Guisseppe was also v helpful. The setting alongside the lake is perfect (particularly for breakfast!), and we would definitely recommend the twin-balcony, lake-view, junior suite rooms. The various boats go from the jetty immediately outside, and we spent most days visiting at least one other location (Salo is highly recommended in the day, slightly less in the evening; Gargnano was also very nice). For a great meal experience in the evening go to Sans Souci; lovely staff and food.

It is interesting to read the polarised views of the Grand Hotel in Gardone. We come down firmly on the side of adoring the hotel's exceptional location and presence on the lakeside, its historic charm and old style customer service. We loved the breakfasts and happy hour in the piano bar, playing cards in the panelled card room, afternoon tea in the lounge. Perfect location next to the ferry jetty and with all the shops and restaurants on the doorstep. Couldn't have chosen a better hotel for our Lake Garda experience.

We have just had a week here and were worried about the state of the hotel given some of the reviews given its closing for a refurb at the end of the season. This hotel is elegant, decorated in a classic style and the rooms we had were beautiful with a balcony and gorgeous lake view. We only stayed B & B so cant comment on the restaurant but the breakfasts were fine. Probably wouldn't come back as Gardone was too quiet for us and without a car we were restricted during the evenings as we were warned taxis were scarce

Excellent Grand Hotel ideally placed next to the pier in Gardone. Stunning lakeside views and very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast shame about the buffet service for dinner. Many local restaurants on the hotels doorstep giving plenty of choice.

The hotel is tired and closing at the end of this season. The staff and manager are very helpful. Breakfast is ample and fine however the half board evening meals are of low quality and far below expectations for this level of hotel. Our meal costs are being refunded by Jet 2 in full with the great help of the local representative. The local is excellent, the village up the hill is charming. Ample restaurants are located besides the hotel so no need to be concerned about eating local.
