Fletcher Hotel Restaurant de Burghoeve

Aside from the location, it's perfect for the motorway and Valkenburg, and the good breakfast, there is very little to recommend about the Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant De Burghoeve. The hotel looks quaint from the outside, with a very small, cramped car park a sign of what to expect. Arriving around check in time at 15:00, the car park (with space for around 10 cars) was already almost full. With on street parking available only to permit holders, it is unclear where others were supposed to leave their car(s). An impractical reception desk, with unhelpful staff, who immediately advised us that dinner (that had been pre-booked) was not available at the hotel, as there was no chef, and that we would need to walk to another hotel. Admittedly the alternative hotel was not far, but guests should be advised of this prior to booking and it should be detailed on the website. Had we known, we would not have pre-booked. We did ask whether we could cancel the dinner but were advised that this would be a long process of emailing the manager. Reading the reviews since leaving, it’s apparent that the absence of a chef is not a recent issue. We felt very sorry for the people staying at the front of the hotel, with rooms close to the creaky and very noisy stairs and floors. It was impossible to walk quietly. The rooms are indeed small as listed, very dated, in need of repair and a very deep clean. There is no seating, desk or amenities you would expect. Room was very warm, possibly 10 degrees warmer than outside, one can only assume it’s the opposite in winter. In the absence of air conditioning, a small fan was provided. This worked for an hour before overheating and stopping. The bathroom was again old and in need of renovation, it took a long time to get the hot water working. The beds were comfortable enough for a two-night stay, but clearly old. The additional, dead insects on top of the bedding were quickly removed. Cleaning on the 2nd day did not take place. The bed was not made and towels left on the bathroom floor (as per the hotel guidance) were not exchanged. A bag containing 2 hand towels, 2 toilet rolls and 2 plastic cups had been thrown onto the bed from the doorway. Clearly no employee had been inside the room. On returning to the hotel after dinner, a sign on the door notified us that the hotel was unstaffed between 21:00 and 08:00, with a number to be called to obtain access to the building. Luckily my companion tried the room key in the front door and this worked. Again, people should be made aware that no staff will be present for 11 hours, prior to booking, should an emergency arise. All in all, we would not advise anyone to book this hotel in its current state, unless they enjoy a museum or a visit back in time to the 70’s is their cup of tea. It is not indicative of other Fletcher hotels we have stayed at, but if this was your first time in a Fletcher hotel, it could put people off the chain for life.

We were kept waiting over an hour in the "breakfast room" a fridge is warmer. Cold even with coats on.. Carpets, dated in room 10. Told no not allowed a kettle in the room. My mum 78 had to sleep with her coat on it was that cold even with radiator on. Website said breakfast included and it was sold as, an extra at €17.50 Could not check out fast enough.. Even at 26 Euro a night on Fletcher website, this, is not worth it. Avoid.

AVOID!!!! There was no parking on site dispute it being advertised as including onsite parking. We asked to check out a day earlier to stay somewhere else and they agreed to a refund for the last night but I’m still waiting!!! AVOID

Vies oudbollig stoffig niet alleen kamer 18 waar wij zaten, maar beneden ook alles vies. Ontbijt en Diner prima overigens diner bij Fletcher Valkenburg gegeten omdat ze die avond geen kok hadden en die was keurig. Ik heb foto's gemaakt waarvan het niet kan uploaden. Het is ook te vies en schandalig daarom worden ze niet geplaatst

Wij waren zeer teleurgesteld in de ouderwetse kamer met schimmel aan het plafond, vieze tegeltjes bij de wasbak en een vies plak douche gordijn! Wij hadden kamer 23. Wij zaten om 9:20 uur aan het ontbijt en de bacon en roerei was op. Ik heb een tijdje afgewacht en ben gaan vragen naar bacon en roerei. Dat kwam eraan kreeg ik te horen. Lang gewacht en een aantal keren gaan kijken, het is gewoon niet bijgevuld! Tijdens het uitchecken kreeg ik van diezelfde persoon te horen dat het te laat was om het nog bij te vullen. Toen ik zei dat ze dat niet had aangegeven kreeg ik te horen, ja maar ik sta ook alleen! Nu heb ik ook op de site gelezen dat je van het ontbijt gebruik kunt maken tot 11.00 uur. Kortom zonde van die €17 extra voor het ontbijt te betalen.

Valkenburg natuurlijk altijd druk en gezellig maar ook ons hotel De Burghoeve was prima. Iedereen aardig. Ontbijt was Oke en ook twee avonden lekker in het hotel gegeten. De salade geitenkaas met veel walnoten was een heerlijk begin maar ook de Caesar salade. De eerste avond zaterdag, Zeebaars met groente voor mij was goed en Sate voor Martin. Dame blanche met advocaat een prima afsluiter. En maandag namen wij hamburger en fish & chips. Het waren smakelijke gezellige dagen!

Receptie was erg vriendelijk! Early Acces ook goedkoop en prima. Parkeergelegenheid valt erg tegen, is minimaal en anders moet je maar ergens in de wijk parkeren. (+-5min lopen) Redelijk schoon, paar gekken niet te goed te identificeren plekken op de muren, tapijt en vloer. Badkamerdeur kon niet dicht, raam ging nauwelijks tot niet dicht. Alleen wel slechte kozijnen, helemaal verrot. Weinig stopcontacten op de kamer, tv doet het dan wel weer. Toch nog wel ver lopen naar het centrum en het station. Slaap je er alleen, dan is het prima! Wel wat gehorig.

Vreselijk hotel! Geen service, niet schoon, heel erg oud, krakende vloeren, geen ventilatie in badkamer, ramen die niet dicht konden, ontzettend gehorig! Nog nooit in zo’n slecht hotel geslapen! Euro 170,- voor 1 nacht! Schandalig! Nooit naartoegaan!
