We had high expectations based on the photos and the emphasis on treatments and yoga on their website, but the reality was far from what was promised. We booked a four-night stay but left after just one night. As two women traveling, we were surprised to be told there was no lock on our door. While they assured us everything was safe, they insisted we leave our valuables in a box at reception. Sri Lanka is not known for having the lowest crime rates, and as young women, we found this unsettling, especially considering the potential for women to be exploited or abused. The so-called “trained therapist” who gave me a full body massage—priced at three times the cost of a regular treatment—spent the entire session on her phone, giving random pushes with no real knowledge of muscles or technique. Also being eaten up by mosquitoes as no towels were available to cover up the part not being massaged. We also booked a yoga class, but no one bothered to inform us that the instructor didn’t show up. The yoga space was unsafe, with broken boards and nails sticking up all over the floor. The cabin was dark, and even the restaurant was poorly lit in the evening, making it impossible to see what was being served, and they didn’t make any effort to explain the menu. This place may have been fantastic at one point, but it’s no longer worth the price. It’s far too expensive for the poor experience provided. Lastly the management frankly didn’t care and was just referring to a email to text if I had some things I believed they could improve. Sad to see so passive people in charge.
