The hotel is very beautiful with a spacious view. The breakfast was delicious!! Moreover, the location of the hotel is the best part because it’s a walking distance to gateway mall. I’ll definitely come back.

So impressed! We booked for the Comrades Marathon package and were absolutely delighted with the experience. The UGC staff deserve all the praise for being so warm, welcoming and eager to assist - from reception and the restaurant team to the porters and housekeeping. This really made our trip ALL the more special. The daily breakfast buffet was top notch. The team were constantly refilling and restocking, so everything was fresh and inviting (no soggy fruit salad or sad, almost-empty platters). Great selection of continental and hot breakfast options. Our room was on the 5th floor, overlooking the pool courtyard. We stayed for 5 nights and it was perfect with sufficient cupboard space and a nice-sized bathroom. Clean, comfortable, air conditioned and with blackout curtains. The location of the hotel is ideal, just a few steps away from Gateway Mall and about a 5 minute drive to the beautiful Umhlanga promenade and restaurant district. It's really well situated for travelling to Durban and Ballito, and 15 minutes to the airport. And thank you to Southern Sun for the extra touches around the marathon itself. The update in our room prior to race day, the fantastic early breakfast service (from 2am!) with - quite literally - anything and everything hungry runners could want. The variety of "grab & go" items for the race, including carry bags, made seconding our runners so easy. And the "did you forget anything?" station with safety pins, tissues, bottled water, salt sachets... the team had thought of everything, and it was so appreciated.

Excellent stay! Have stayed recently at a so called 5star Hotel and was not happy. My stay Garden court felt like a 5star hotel. Good food, super clean and pleasant staff!!

We travelled for a funeral and there were 5 of us. The rooms were fine however, we had asked for a packed breakfast as we had to leave early. We only got one for 5 people. We then ask if we can have a coffee, to which the receptionist says we need to ask the kitchen. I then sit in the lobby waiting to leave where she comes by to make her coffee and says to me if I want some I can come here and make it. Terrible staff don’t care at all. Never again

We had a relaxed time at the hotel where we spent most of our time, especially because we could not get time to go to the beach due to the rain. The TVs in the family room do not give an option for Netflix or YouTube which was disappointing for the kids however, the hotel did have fun activities planned such as movie nights at the Kids Zone. The heated pool allowed us to swim throughout the unfavourable rainy weather. We booked the Christmas dinner at the hotel and the food tasted amazing. The hotel is a walking distance from Gateway Mall and that was so convenient for us. A particular thanks to the manager Warren who went out of his way to ensure that our misplaced item was found and safely returned. The friendly staff at the Mnandi Restaurant and Bar worked very hard and often stayed a little over their night shifts to ensure that everyone got their last orders in. I enjoyed my hot baths and showers, I will definitely miss their showers.

I had a reasonably good stay at the Garden Court Hotel in Umhlanga. the room comfortable and the food was delicious, especially the Mac and Cheese and the spiced chicken wings. Only criticisms were the pillows being all hard and the TV channels that were very limited.

Have stayed here on a couple of occasions and it’s perfectly fine. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean & it’s well maintained. The breakfast is ok & the bar is also ok. There are often cos I loads, literally coach loads, of visitors. It’s fine just very unremarkable.

Visited for business in kzn,nice and clean,well kept,service OK,breakfast good,rooms are equipped with everything,bathroom nice and clean. Bit noisy around the area till very late in the morning,but overall good experience,definitely one of the better places in the area

The location is good within the Gateway precinct, which is convenient. Rooms are standard for the type of hotel. When fully occupied during high season it can be quite noisy. Staff and service are average. Nothing above the minimum one would expect.

We stayed for a night in October, we had an early flight to catch the next morning. The hotel is in a great location, it is close to everything but away from the noise. Check in was fast and efficient. We got a great deal on a suite, which was on the top floor and had a great view. The room was large and clean. The breakfast, while busy was always full and had a large selection. All the staff we came across were friendly and helpful.

The room was well cleaned and presented a good atmosphere, however, the shower ‘s drainage was not that good.
