The Ferry Inn

We stayed here for two nights over Easter weekend. The hotel (inn), bar and restaurant are run by The Morrison family, Gordon, Shona, Hamish, Anna and the cutest little westie terrier, Mack - as laid back and friendly as they come sat “on the bar” or by HIS log fire. We were apparently their first hotel guests of 2024, and were warmly welcomed by Gordon who helped us in with our bags and showed us to our delightful room, overlooking Uig Bay and its pier. Tremendous views and a 10 minute walk from the front door took you to the idyllic Rha waterfalls. Everywhere smelt wonderful. Our bay view room and ensuite, the resident’s lounge, bar and restaurant are all fastidiously clean. The entire property has been really professionally curated by Shona. Noble Isle toiletries in the bathrooms, lovely artworks throughout, and plenty of little touches that made all the difference to our stay and were very much appreciated. Including the Easter tree and the chocolate Easter bunnies by our bedside. All conjuring up the “coorie” (cosy or Hygge) feel we suspect they were aiming for and have pulled off with some aplomb. We enjoyed dinner here on our first night which was fantastic. Great quality home cooked and locally sourced produce (thanks Hamish) - a real treat. Simply delicious and well worth a visit even if you are not staying overnight. Anna was a consummate professional and attended to our every need, including organising transport in advance of our arrival. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the family. All delivered willingly and always with a smile. The bar is well stocked (thanks Gordon) and there is a good selection of local brews, spirits and a great selection of very affordable wines given their quality. Gordon is an excellent host. Full of repartee and bonhomie and he can make a mean cocktail. A Damson Negroni in particular😋 Breakfast (served between 8am and 9am) was delicious (see photo) all perfectly prepared cooked and presented by Gordon. Mack was having a lie-in! If we were to be really critical (balanced) the ensuite shower would benefit from having a hand-held shower in addition to the rain shower head and whilst we appreciate many of their guests will be up-and-at-em types, keen for an early start, we prefer a later start when on holiday and a later breakfast would have suited us better. All this said, we were made to feel like friends, and would be back in a flash if they’ll have us. The best Easter we’ve ever had! Thank you The Morrisons.

We looked at this restaurant online reading super reviews etc Tried phoning on and off for several days, wanted to book for an Anniversary dinner as somewhere special. No response from phoning, eventually stopped by in one of our outings. Spoke to one of staff outside, eventually manager owner came out. No booking available, said I had read lovely reviews online. Added that I read reviews and would love to try restaurant and food, net with response, "everybody wants to eat here". A bit Dissappointed with response and felt not particularly welcome. We had really looked forward to eating in thus local area, but lack of booking facilities to sample local cuisine has left us a bit deflated by lack of local restaurants. Might be nice to be a but more welcome by local restaurants to far travelled tourists. Another night of self catering, without enjoying the delights of much advertised restaurants. A bit let down by Skye.
