The Turtley Corn Mill

Delightful experience at this converted mill. Everything was of the highest quality, bed, pillows, linen etc down to tea & coffee maker & milk frother in room. Very attentive, friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts, I can recommend the eggs royale & the granola, fruit & yogurt plate although the scrambled eggs were a disappointment. The evening menus had plenty of choice & were all well prepared & presented in the charming library. I recommend this hotel/inn for a short stay. Added bonus is watching the peacocks parading in the grounds. Only down side would be if you mind being woken up by the peacocks calling in the mornings - but they have covered this by providing earplugs in the room!

The food was good and the staff attentive the prices however in relation to the portion size are shocking. A pint of birra morreti - £8.50?! A guiness zero can - £8.40, the cheapest pint being a Dartmoor legend at £6.80, a pint which is brewed literally on the doorstep?! God forbid if you want to bring your own birthday cake as turtley will charge you a 'small fee' of £25! Money for old rope, it seemed if they could charge you for the hand soap they would! Disappointing as it seems like a hard working team and great atmosphere are being let down by someone's greed. Won't rush back unfortunately, not until the second mortgage is agreed anyway.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Turtley Corn Mill with a group of 15, and the service was absolutely spot on! Despite our large party, the team served our meals promptly and efficiently, and every dish was delicious. What really stood out was their attention to detail—each meal (even multiple courses) was brought out with the diner’s name, so no one had to remember what they had pre-ordered. Such a thoughtful touch! To top it all off, they surprised my husband with a dessert for his birthday, which made the day even more special. A big thank you to the staff for their excellent service—we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend! 👏🍽️

We went for Sunday lunch. Lovely place and really attentive staff. Sunday lunch was good, but have to admit I've had better. Roast beef was tender but well cooked. Good variety of vegetables, roast potatoes could have been crispier. Enjoyed it but won't return due to the cost.

Visited mid-August for our wedding anniversary. Customer service is the main aim at this beautiful location. Every single member of the team take looking after their guests to the next level. The food is amazing, more than amazing, it’s exceptional! The property is decorated wonderfully, clean and well kept. So if you are looking for a break where you are truly welcomed and appreciated, this is the place. Easy access to Salcombe and Dartmoor.

We had a night's B&B here, on the way to our holiday accommodation further south. From arrival, to leaving, the staff were very helpful and professional. The room was beautifully furnished and decorated, and the complementary toiletries in the bathroom were amazing! There was also plenty of space to hang/store clothes etc. We found the bed very comfy and it was good to have a Nespresso in the room. The whole building has a lovely atmosphere and is nicely decorated with artifacts etc. The only thing stopping me giving 5 stars was the breakfast. I don't like huge breakfasts and they did at least have choices other than fried stuff, so I ordered the porridge. It was tepid and almost completely solid. It tasted OK but I make it better myself! My partner had the full English and he enjoyed that.
