My family (wife, 6-year-old daughter, and I) booked an oceanfront room at Nacional Inn Ubatuba expecting a relaxing stay, but a dangerous incident ruined our trip. Around 11:30 PM, while my daughter slept, my wife heard a loud pop from the bathroom. Stepping into the dark hallway, she cut her foot on glass from a shattered glass door separating the hallway and bathroom, which had spontaneously exploded due to a faulty hinge. Glass covered both areas, posing a severe safety risk, especially for families. I can’t imagine the danger if my daughter had walked to the bathroom.I reported the issue to reception, and staff took 30 minutes to clean up two buckets of glass. During cleanup, we saw a cockroach, adding to our discomfort. We were moved to a neighboring room with a smaller bed, disrupting our night. Shockingly, management never apologized or checked on my wife’s injury. At checkout, they admitted this “sometimes happens” but offered only a $160 Real discount after a 20-30 minute call with their off-site financial department, despite our expenses, including a pricey dinner the previous night.T his negligence is unacceptable. The hotel must replace these hazardous doors and improve cleanliness and guest care. Management’s dismissive attitude left us feeling undervalued. I strongly advise travelers, especially families, to avoid this hotel and choose safer alternatives. This was a traumatic and poorly handled experience.
