Hotel Rigele Royal Superior

Our stay at the Hotel Rígele Royal was, without a doubt, one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth, impeccable service, and genuine care, making it incredibly difficult to leave. Everything about our stay was perfect from our arrival welcome which was seamless, thanks to Christian's welcoming presence. He efficiently guided us through the hotel's amenities and operations, personally escorting us and all of our luggage to our room. The room itself was absolutely perfect – immaculately clean and thoughtfully designed for a ski holiday, we even had a welcome bar of chocolate waiting for us. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, which was so welcomed after a day on the slopes giving us restful nights. The shower room was equally impressive. We particularly appreciated the well-considered soundproofing between the shower room and toilet, ensuring privacy between the tree of us sharing the room. Our balcony became a cherished spot, where we enjoyed the stunning views both in the peaceful mornings and relaxing evenings. Opting for the half-board was a great decision. We loved the personal touch of having the same table reserved for us throughout our stay. The dining experience was exceptional, with a fresh buffet of salads, cheeses, and bread complementing the carefully curated daily menu that we pre-ordered. The entire restaurant team deserves high praise for their attentiveness and dedication to making meal times a pleasure. A special thank you must go to Jannes, whose wine knowledge and recommendations were consistently outstanding. We also want to acknowledge Theo, whose warm welcome and consistently happy and positive energy brightened our days. His daily recommendations for slopes and alpine bars truly enhanced our excursions, making them even more exciting and memorable. Phillip and Alex also deserve recognition for their exemplary and attentive service. The bar at the Rígele Royal is another highlight. Maxe and Bruno and one more(im sorry we didn’t catch your name) are true professionals, impressing us with their passion, extensive drink knowledge, and exceptional service. They consistently crafted perfect drinks and added to the enjoyable atmosphere of the hotel. What truly sets the Rígele Royal apart is its incredible team. They are a genuinely dedicated and close-knit group, creating a personal and welcoming atmosphere that felt like a true home away from home. Their attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction is evident in every interaction. The location of the hotel is also ideal - convenient access to the slopes and shops of Obertauern. We are already can’t wait for our next visit and return to the Hotel Rígele Royal. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a memorable and outstanding experience.

SUMMARY: Reality is totally fitting their claimed standard - they really ARE superior. We have been there (maybe 4th or 5th time) as a big mixed Aussie / Austrian family, from adults with high expectations to little ones with special demands and it has been perfect for everyone. We definitely will come back again. DETAILS: Location: jump on and off to the slopes, and near the après ski places Venue, Rooms: Stylish, classy but also practical if you are there with little kids Spa, Wellness Area: Fantastic, plus a separate one where little ones are excluded, the best is the outdoor pool for everybody Food: High level and great scope from local rustic, gourmet to healthy offers, all to be combined flexible, very smart idea Staff: Friendly, competent, flexible Snow: That what is great in Obertauern – always snow safe between Christmas and New Year Slopes: Above trees, white wonderland with all ranges of difficulty Price: Great value for money

On the whole the hotel has great potential, our room was spacious & clean & the pool area is great, but there were a few things missing when it came to facilities, service (very hit & miss in both the restaurant & bar) and also quality/selection of food. It seems to me that the 'trying to be Michelin' restaurant Fritz & Friedrich (not included in the half board for hotel guests) is the priority and so if you are a paying guest at the hotel you get a very variable standard of food & service in the main restaurant whilst the diners (who probably aren't guests) get treated like royalty in Fritz & Friedrich! The dinners in the HB restaurant were of an average standard & the salad bar was probably the most basic I have experienced, which again is a shame as a quick win to provide more than just 4 types of salad. When we tried to book the F&F restaurant with reception, we were told that it was closing a day early & that someone would come back to us to see if we could dine there, but they never did. Admittedly, we were staying at the end of the season, but have never felt it so much as here - it was like everyone was too tired to care too much. We usually stay in Austria at the same time & have never felt like this from other hotels. Some of the staff were excellent, but unfortunately this does not make up for the 2 or 3 who are dismissive/mess up your orders. There seemed to be a distinct lack of management, so I do not lay any blame with the serving staff. The hotel website states 'We offer a playroom and lots of thoughtful details for the little ones – from festive events and children's cinema to ski courses' which is misleading as the playroom is tiny/really only suitable for under 5's & there was nothing else offered...in fact the light in the playroom (with no window) was off every time we walked past. We would expect much much more for the money that we paid.
