Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa All Inclusive

The resort was very nice but do not recommend for solo travelers.

The bike ride with Cecilio is a must! You will visite the eco part of the sirenis. Cecilio is funny and the ride is easy. You will also visit a cenote, and he will help you with pictures and everything else. It is interesting, and a very good experience!

Found the resort very far from Cancun airport (took almost 2 hours to get to hotel). Arrived to hotel around 9 p.m. Although I had requested a co-join room (2 adults, 3 kids) the hotel did not try to accommodate us so we all shared a Junior suit (one bathroom). Rooms very clean and service great. When asked for towels, etc. it would arrive, except the one time we tried room service which did not pick up the phone. When trying to book a la carte restaurant with a concierge there was only one available and at 9:15 p.m. He did not try to get any more so we had to do it by going each day to a restaurant to ask if there were cancellations (ridiculous). We were so lucky to have gone the second night of our stay to the Peruvian/Japanese restaurant were Karen Cardiel was in charge of sitting people, let me tell you, she went above and beyond for us (Muchas gracias Karen from a Peruvian born ;)). She was able to find us other restaurants an help us. Her professionalism and happiness (always smiling) made our trip better than how it started. If you are a beach goer, this beach is 2/5. Has some rocks and is very small located in between coral reefs. I am used to sitting on a beach chair and looking out into the long beach coast and ocean but this was not possible at this hotel's beach. The pools (one under renovation) was okay 2.5/5. We have gone to way better pools before (Iberostar, Melia & Princess). Now, to get from one place to another using the golf cart service, was frustrating. They only had two and you would wait 20 to 30 minutes to get one "if" they came. Went to lobby asked why at such a busy time there is only two. Management needs to have more carts going around specially during busy time of year. Thank you to "Miguel" who picked us up as we were walking to our rooms and any other nights I saw him driving by I would say "hola Miguel" and he would come back once dropping other people. He gave us way better information than the concierge. The food was good at a la carte restaurants and the buffet was as other buffets with nothing that stood out. The Ice cream and coffee shop was great. The "teens" club was closed as they were putting up LCD monitors but for a week? That is too long. Would I come back to this all inclusive resort for its beaches, pools, entretainment?... NO. For it's service, staff, cleanliness of hotel, rooms and restaurants,?... Maybe.

Visited Grand Sirenis Resort and Spa for a week in the second half of November. Resort was under heavy reconstruction, some paths were closed as well as main pool. If you don't mind walking to/from buffet, lobby, restaurants, then it is fine. We being told that works will be finished by mid of December, but I have doubts based on amount of work to be done. Pluses: if you like beach and snorkeling, is 5 out of 5. There are remains of coral reef with a lot of fish. Thanks to beach location in the bay it is quite swimmable when other locations will be too windy. Due to renovations there are not too many people on the beach, literally empty in the morning. If you like to walk, territory quite big. There are shuttle carts, but you have to be lucky to get one. Most of the shuttles are for premium members (black carts). One of the buffets is under renovations, but the one which just opened after is very nice one with modern design. Also cafeteria downstairs just opened while we where there. Also with nice, modern design, drinks were pretty limited, but if you want expresso/capuchino this was place to go. Food, 3.5 out of 5. If you like fish, then every day there was station cooking different, every day new seafood. Deserts, are pretty blend, nothing special, from what remember, macaroons were pretty good. Service in the buffet, and literally everywhere was pretty good. From people who remember - in the buffet was very fun and enthusiastic guy Marcial Tun Che. Restaurants are pretty challenging to book - we tried to book the evening we arrived, and literally either everything book or only 9.30 pm wad available. Managed to book Meixican and Peruvian for 6.30pm. Food nothing special, just pretty nice places yo go out. "Mixologolia" bar quite memorable. There is guy named Hugo, who really likes and takes pride of his job Suite was quite old, but nothing critical. Some buildings were under renovations, so all buildings with suits eventuslly will be renovated. As about evening shows they were quite unremarkable. There was no decorations at all with black background. In one of the evenings, after the show, there was "silent" discotheque in the theater - if you have company, then itis quite fun, everybody can choose music from one of 3 DJs, and by changed color of headphones, you could see how people were switching between different DJs. Onevevening vsited Discoteque in the resort, there was quite borring Playlist. If you don't like crowded beach with nice fauna and you getting nice deal, definitely worth going there. Also there should be quite nice on roof bar which should be opening soon as well.

We're still staying at this hotel, I've traveled to Mexico many times (I'm a travel agent) Positive: Hands up for Gine at the pool, Miguel for the shuttle, William at the lobby bar, Arthuro at the Italian restaurant and Rudolf the sommelier. The food is good, the beach pleasant. The rooms are clean, the mini fridge stocked every day. Negative It's a big resort, so people with reduced mobility are left out, the shuttle bus is non-existent, so you have to wait at least 45 minutes to get to your room or the lobby, or have to walk because no one comes. Lobby staff don't care about you once you've checked in, no directions, no maps, no information. There is a VIP section which is more important to this hotel than normal guests. I called last night to get access to the lobby and was told "we have new guests arriving so you'll have to wait.... ". My husband has a knee injury went to the lobby to explain the situation and they said we will have arrangements for us I guess. So on a general note it a good resort but the lobby service and transportation need to be reviewed

We booked a family trip for a group of 10 to celebrate a milestone birthday. Upon arrival, the check-in was smooth and the lobby looked very grand. But this was not the dream vacation that we were expecting. Unless you’re a member you don’t have access to everything they advertised. Cons: 1. Impossible to book a la carte restaurant despite it being empty. We were told it was booked for wedding parties which was not true. Majority of tables were reserved for members only. It’s not an unusual sight to see people lining up outside the restaurant to beg for a table. Their booking system online is flawed as members have taken all the availabilities way in advance. 2. Minimal to no shuttle service for non members. We requested a shuttle bus from our room to the lobby on our first night and waited a good 40min in vain because the shuttle never came. We learned from a fellow guest that this is not uncommon (up to 90min). The lack of a reliable shuttle service makes this resort very undesirable for people with limited mobility or people with young kids. 3. Renovations everywhere!! The walking paths were barricaded without notice and without detour instruction. One of the main pool renovation was experiencing major delays and not ready for use despite our travel agent telling us otherwise. Most of the a la carte restaurant advertised on their website are under renovation and not available. 4. Attempts to sell you their “ULC” exclusive membership. We were given invitation to tour their members only area as a compensation for all the negative things going on in the resort. Believe me - The presentation was a slap in the face. The manager admits that the resort as it currently stands does not meet the standard of a 4star hotel. And that we have to join an exclusive club to gain access to additional service that would be standard at other similar resorts (a la carte restaurant availability, shuttle services, etc). It feels like they are providing inferior services and are trying to trap people into joining their exclusive club Pros: 1. The staff were great and very friendly. We enjoyed the drinks made by Hugo at mixologia. He was very creative. And Jorge our concierge was very helpful. The service staff is keeping this resort alive. 2. The beaches and pools were well maintained. The private beach area was nice. The sand was soft and white..The opened pools were cleaned and the water was clear. 3. Nightly shows were entertaining. Large auditorium/theatre 4. Decors are very modern for the most part. Overall, I would never come back or even entertain the idea of giving my business to this chain. I would not recommend this resort to any of my friends.
