Lost Whale Inn

Truly fantastic location, view, and serenity. We were very lucky with the weather, which made it incomparable. The innkeepers are extremely gracious and knowledgeable o fthe area. Happy hour at 3, breakfast at 9 (could/should be earlier?) and beautiful all around. Yes, it is pricey, but a treat.

Amazing little inn with beautiful grounds and private trail down to beach. Everything thought through - binoculars and umbrellas for guest use, complementary wine and snacks in the evening, s'more kit for the firepit, coffee available at 7:00 a.m. upstairs, etc. Breakfast included a wide variety and was absolutely delicious. Couldn't have enjoyed our stay more.

We stayed at the Lost Whale Inn in the Beluga Room (which is on the second floor and has a cute balcony) for a trip to the Redwood National Park. Our room was really nice and quiet and we had an amazing view. They put out cheese plates with wine every day and have bottled water and basically anything you can think of. The place has stunning views even from the deck. I could've sat there all day and listened to the seal lions and looked for whales. The breakfast was amazing the two days we were there and the staff is so nice. Brian and Tiffany do a great job and I wish we had made time for massages. Overall, I would highly recommend this place!

This is my favorite place to stay in Humboldt County. Absolutely stunning location owned by a wonderful family... we have stayed here many times over the years and keep coming back. The hospitality is unmatched. The views are incredible. Sauna, hot tub, bonfire overlooking the ocean with s'more kits, wine and incredible multi-course homemade breakfast included: how can you beat that? We love The Lost Whale Inn and look forward to our next visits. Highly, highly recommend this place. It's the best!

This place is AMAZING!! The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. The inn is so cute, comfy, and clean. Plenty of nice spots to sit and enjoy the ocean views. All the staff were so friendly, attentive, and approachable. They had great recommendations for what to do in the area too. The food was soooo good. I'm gluten free and they happily accommodated me. The town it's in, Trinidad, is small so there's not much in the immediate area but a great central spot for the Redwoods and plenty of outdoor activities within a 20 minute drive. Definitely will be coming back!

This is a nice inn with a great view made memorable by our innkeeper Mel who was friendly and welcoming. The grounds have a spectacular view of the ocean and there is a walkway (a bit challenging but fun) down to a rocky beach. We stayed there one night to visit the redwoods and it was a good choice. There was a good restaurant near by which should be reserved in advance. The breakfast was tasty with a lot of choices. Comfortable but not fancy.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lost Whale as a wonderful base for visiting Redwoods over 3 nights. Brian, Tiffany, and the staff are committed to providing the best experience to guests and succeed on every level. We can't wait to reurn!

As an introvert, I usually don’t like a B&B because space and social interaction are issues. This may be the best exception ever. The hostesses were attentive but not intrusive. The grounds were stunning, with fire-side sunsets over the ocean a magazine-level privilege. Breakfasts were so yummy, I’d slowed down for their 9 am arrival to hear more personal recommendations of prettiest places to not miss. It’s a big area of massive beauty to explore, that they made feel manageable and intimate. I would love to return.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a beautiful, sweet and gracious young woman named Mel. She showed us around the lovely home and grounds, and helped us carry our luggage up to our room. We stayed in the Blue Whale room, which was on the end overlooking the beach below and another window overlooked the lush gardens below….with a cozy king-sized bed. The room was clean and spacious with our own private bathroom. We really enjoyed the happy hour with complimentary wine, local beer & soft drinks, a nice charcuterie plate, and also s’mores to take out to the fire pit on the yard below. Enjoyed meeting the other guests, and petting the sweet & friendly resident cat, Bosco, too! Amazing views of the ocean with lots of sitting areas to enjoy. A wonderful homemade breakfast was waiting for us in the morning before we headed out to explore the redwoods and neighboring towns. Sarah even made us a delicious breakfast the morning we had to check out early! We felt this was truly a “home away from home” and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend the Lost Whale Inn! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
