Jkab Beach Resort

Extremely disappointing experience — particularly because of the manager’s attitude. We raised a genuine concern about the portion size of the food we were served. Instead of listening to our complaint or trying to resolve the issue courteously, the manager, Jerome, became argumentative and verbally aggressive towards us. We travel extensively and have eaten at restaurants all over the world, but we have rarely encountered a restaurant manager with such a rude and confrontational attitude towards customers. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of sympathy or willingness to address our concern. To make matters worse, Jerome told us that he couldn’t care less about receiving bad reviews. That attitude says a great deal about how little importance is placed on customer feedback. A restaurant can make a mistake — that happens. What matters is how you treat customers when they raise a legitimate concern. Unfortunately, our experience with the management at JKAB was extremely poor. We certainly won’t be returning, and based on this experience, we cannot recommend the restaurant.

The resort is situated in a beautiful, tranquil setting surrounded by lush trees and scenic water bodies. It offers direct access to the beach, and the entire property is exceptionally clean, safe, and well maintained. The resort features a large swimming pool and a variety of room options, all equipped with excellent amenities. Since the resort has restaurant, we enjoyed most of our meals there and were able to relax without having to leave the property. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of dishes prepared fresh every day. The staff were warm, friendly, and professional, always treating us with kindness and respect, making our stay even more enjoyable.

We stayed at the JKAB Beach Resort for 6 days. There is much to praise but two surprisingly disappointing issues. The hotel is in a really beautiful location, easy access to a stunning beach with clear sea and with pretty gardens and a lovely, clean swimming pool. The buildings are a little older than some of the other hotels in the area but the staff work very hard to maintain the buildings and the grounds. We had 2x cabins, each with three beds in, beside the swimming pool. The rooms were comfortable and clean, ready for us even when we arrived early in the morning from the overnight train from Colombo. The bathrooms were tired - they all need a new shower, decent ventilation and proper doors. The a/c was temperamental and unreliable. WiFi was slow and weak, limited data per day. For us, what made our stay here special was the staff. Every single person - from the manager Jerome, to Kushner managing the restaurant, to the chef making wonderful omelettes at breakfast, to the team of maintenance staff and cleaners, and even the gentlemen that supervise the gates between the grounds and the beach - could not do enough to help us. Always with a smile, always willing to ask how they could help, always appreciative of being thanked and acknowledged for their hard work and time. Staff were kind to the stray dogs - of which there are many in Sri Lanka. We took fresh water and food to the most vulnerable including a mum to newborn puppies, and they helped us and said they would continue once we left. While some staff were more wary of the dogs biting (understandable given rabies is on the island), no one was ever unkind to the dogs. If you see the dogs, take fresh water to them especially during the heat of the day. They will be lying in the shade of the fishing boats. The food in the hotel was good but we only had breakfasts here as we liked to to exploring during the day and evenings, to see as much of the area as we could. The breakfasts looked great but I cannot cope with spice at all in the morning, so definitely did not get the best of breakfasts! However the fresh fruit and the freshly made omelettes were perfect. Now to the surrounding area: There are local fisherman working hard morning and evening on the beach. While it can be appealing to just stand and watch them pull in their heavy lines from the sea, go and help them! They appreciate the help, the currents can make the lines even heavier. It is a workout and it will give you even more respect for how hard these people work for a living. There are several local restaurants within walking distance up the beach so easy to explore. However, there were two down sides to our experience at JKAB: 1) the litter on the beach was excessive. This is not specific to JKAB - some washes in on the sea and some is from the fisherman as they cut bits of net, leave drinks bottles etc. But again - do something to help! We shifted to JKAB beach resort after a terrible experience at JKAB lagoon. This one is marginally better, food slightly better but minimal for vegetarians. No activities, just a small pool & a beach. Beach is good

Worst food experience with expired crab. Service very poor and not satisfied with food Too much salty i don't know the chef is testing food this is not the first time.. kotthu noodles every food which u ur ordering as local

Location is good . Hotel is on the beach. We were on 2nd floor . Nice spacious room . Long veranda. Cloth dryer rack available . Good view from veranda and sea view from the resturant. Average breakfast though. Resturant's staffs r very hospitable . Staffs were helpful too . Enjoyed the sunrise at the beach in-front of the hotel, it was beaitiful and peacful.

At first, location is good, very close to the sea BUT, bedroom is not clean, especially sheets, shower water is cold, water in the sink is cold, none of the doors close properly, TV is not working, phone is constantly beeping, our room was never cleaned in three days (!). Food is consistently cold, except omelettes, food is not good at all (l 'm being polite). The swimming pool is like a big vat of chlorine ! The only redeeming factor is the kindness of the staff who is doing their best in a very bad situation.

TERRIBLY UNHYGIENIC. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. THE PHOTOS ARE DECEIVING. ITS A HEALTH HAZARD. THERE IS MOULD ON THE BEDS AND IT IS DANGEROUS TO BREATHE THAT ALL NIGHT. Disgusting and dirty, extremely UNHYGIENIC. The quilts we so dirty. I wanted to post all the photos but for some reason I am not able to upload all the photos . It only allows 2 photos so I am unable to upload the beds with mould. Towels and sheets with stains, geckos inside rooms and dirty bathroom . The list goes on..the linen is not laundered in a commercial washing machine at high temperature..we had to re book trinco blu at extra cost and check out within half an hour.
