La Casona de Tortuguero

Simple rooms with cold Air Conditioning. 1 minute walk to beach and to town. Hot showers, warm pool. Beds only come with a sheets but very comfortable. Great stay for $ I would recommend this hotel. Breakfast is served for 8.50$ Mexican restaurant upstairs. Many food options close. The boat pick up is not far from hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at La Casona, including the pool and air conditioning! But this review is to try to get the RESTAURANT on the Trip Advisor map. The Mexican food here is AMAZING! Superb fish tacos (we had them twice!); amazing red snapper with seafood sauce; coconut chicken that was so good it was my niece's favorite meal in 7 weeks in Costa Rica. The patacones and ceviche was also great! And live music, and great cocktails, and some tables have a sea view. What a place!

We booked this through a package with Exploradores Outdoors. Such a cute hotel and the people are all so nice and friendly. Very close to the beach and in a central part of the town. It gets HOT in Tortuguero so we were very thankful for the AC in the rooms. Had no issues with mosquitoes as other reviewers mentioned. The rooms are simple but functional and clean. No complaints at all! Breakfast was delicious! The pool was refreshing and we enjoyed watching the local iguanas around the pool. The restaurant upstairs is delicious!

Staff were amazing and super friendly, the pool area was lovely and right next to the beach it was beautiful! Miriam was lovely and the tour guides were very helpful and showed us an amazing time. Thank you !!

Our family of 5 (three teenagers ages 18, 16, 14) stayed in three rooms at La Casona for two nights in December 2021--we probably had more space than we really needed especially since we enjoyed sitting around the pool more than I had anticipated. The rooms were simple and comfortable. We were happy there was A/C to turn on at night as it is quite humid in Tortuguero. Pool is a nice amenity to cool off in between hiking and walking around town. We spotted iguanas as we enjoyed the pool. Nice plantings all around. Breakfast was yummy--included fresh fruit, coffee, eggs, Gallo Pinto and coffe or tea. Hosts were available to answer questions and were always friendly. I found that the rooms felt more pleasant than the photos indicate. Great location to enjoy the village, the beach and the national park, and a quick walk to meet early morning tours.

We stayed here as part of a package. The room was very basic and there were big gaps around the door so we used the mosquito net we’d brought with us around the bed as I think I’d have got bitten alive otherwise. Would be good if they could have these as standard given the large gaps around the door for bugs to get in. The breakfast was good and the pool looked inviting but we didn’t have time to take a dip sadly. It was perfectly fine for a night but I probably would have chosen somewhere else if staying for longer.

We stayed at La Casona as part of a package with Exploradores. On arrival we enjoyed cocktails from the small bar and made use of the pool before being picked up by our guide for a tour of the town. The location is really great - very close to the beach (which is beautiful but not recommended for swimming) and only a very short walk from the main dock, shops, bars and restaurants. Our hotel room was really nice and had the benefit of air conditioning. We had brought a mosquito net with us though, which was useful as there wasn't one in the room and were gaps around the door. Our room had a comfy bench right outside where we could sit to enjoy the gardens and pool. The pool itself was lovely but did get quite busy at times and there wasn't loads of space to sit around it when there were lots of people there. A bonus was being able to spot iguanas and hummingbirds in the gardens, which we really enjoyed!

Passé 2 nuits vers le 16 février 2024 J'ai aimé L'emplacement - l'accueil - la piscine - la proximité des restaurant du parc - le petit déjeuner copieux pour 7,20 euros 4000 colonnes Le parc National de Tortuguero qui vaut vraiment le déplacement Je n'ai pas aimé : La salle de bains - le WI-FI très faible - la petite chambre - petit lit en 130cm ne correspondant pas à celui prévu par Booking et les draps trop petits pour ce petit lit - Les odeurs de refoulement de la salle de bains - Les bruits derriere le batiment toute la nuit - L'eau chaude juste 20 secondes maximum par douche.

Habitación cutre, con unos huecos en puerta y ventanas que entra cualquier insecto. ( habitación con baño compartido) No se puede pagar con tarjeta y en el pueblo no hay cajeros. El personal bien. Lo único bueno piscina y ubicación.
