FERGUS Style Tobago - Adults Only

Stayed in hotel for five nights end of April. Hotel is stunning and well looked after by staff. Very clean and staff couldn’t be more helpful. As per other reviews the pool is mainly shaded until around 11am and the pool is absolutely freezing but in the hight of summer will be appreciated. There are Bali beds for hire around the pool which we made use of which was an extra luxury the hotel offered for a price of €40. We also used the beds on the roof top pool which is absolutely beautiful, again for a price of €75. Only downfall is WiFi doesn’t reach the rooms, works everywhere in the hotel but have to be on the balcony for it to connect. Will definitely be returning. Weather was lovely, an hour or two of rain one day but other than that boiling hot.

Definitely not a 5* hotel. Never had a single night's sleep due to the noise from the beach from 4.30am onwards. Although the beds were extremely comfortable. Room was small and had to request toilet rolls from reception. Bed was left for 4 days without it being changed. Sink top not cleaned. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose from. Although sauce bottle tops dirty. Did complain and they were changed. One male waiter was quite arrogant and obviously had his favourite customers. Not enough sunbeds and crammed in. Ended up spending 12 out of our 14 days on the beach. Lovely location but would not stay at this hotel again.

Back from a week at this hotel, our third visit in 3 years. It’s a good 4 star but we do stay 5 star and this lacks completely by any comparison of Sani or Iberostar for example. The hotel were very accommodating with a room request in advance, we asked to stay in the same room that we’d had the past 2 years. They positioned us 2 floors higher with the same stunning sea view. My adult sons were in a nearby room as requested. We felt very welcomed and even had a bottle of cava on ice and a lovely note delivered to our door as a welcome back. The food was fantastic, we were half board and the breakfast selection was amazing - apart from the omission of ketchup! HP sauce only. We ended up buying a bottle at the supermarket! The evening meal was superb and didn’t get boring. Always something new to try. My only feedback would be on waiter Abeidy who was quite hostile and shouted at guests if they went to sit at a table that had more seats than their party. Keyla might smile and be more pleasant, but the staff generally were lovely. The biggest issue is lack of sunbeds. I did smile at the new arrivals who would turn up at 11-12am and expect that there would be a sunbed for them and then have words with the life guard to magic something. There just isn’t enough for the quantity of guests and people are reserving them from 6-7am or earlier. The pool opens at 10am and the lifeguard took a few towels away from people who reserved and weren’t on them, with one woman kicking off that she had only gone to her room for an item and had been less than 30 minutes (she hadn’t). The Balinese beds are €50 minimum (more with a drinks package but 6 halves of beer or soft drinks and 2 small tubs of Pringles don’t equate to good value for €75 and the bottle of cava only for €100 is a total rip off!). Consequently, we spent around €400 on sunbed hire at the hotel across the week. The cheapest package at the sky bar pool is €75 per day (no option to not have the drinks package). Anna did give us a complimentary bed one day when in some interim feedback I said that I was hiring them as my mobility issues mean the no cost sunbeds are too low (if I was minded to get up at 6am and try and get one!) - we did appreciate this and Anna is a great asset to the hotel for her helpfulness. There isn’t much that the hotel can do about the sunbed situation as there is a physical lack of space and the sunbeds are already almost touching they have put as many as possible out. If they closed off the whole area to stop early morning reserving, it would only result in the sunbed dash you see at other hotels. Entertainment or any atmosphere is lacking. In previous years there has been someone playing the piano at breakfast, not this year. We went out to local bars in Palmanova each night and it is lost revenue since the hotel don’t make more of an effort. The welcome drink is a joke - coffee or cheap orange juice!
