Nice clean spacious room (1) freindly pleasant attentive staff, very good evening meal and large choice at breakfast.

Amazing night on new years eve, fantastic cabin absolutely spotless the bar was great with lovely staff and the best chips we have ever tasted looked after us fantastic we will be back

Called in here recently on a Sunday lunchtime, only for a drink. The dining area was busy, although there weren't any customers sitting at the bar. The staff were very busy serving diners, and we waited patiently to be served. A girl came behind the bar to sort out a food bill for a customer and completely ignored us. After at least 10 minutes of waiting, I asked a young waiter if somebody could serve us, and he replied by saying he would get someone, nobody came. Many more staff came behind the bar, but we were still ignored, so we eventually turned on our heels and walked out, we went down to Rothbury instead, where the customer service was excellent in all pubs. We were very disappointed with the poor service, obviously the staff and management are more interested in diners than drinkers, such a shame but seems to be the way country pubs are going these days.

We went to this pub three times during our week’s holiday as it was so good. A huge variety of delicious and beautifully presented options including an excellent choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The staff were so helpful and friendly too, especially Aaron, who we must give a special mention to - he was great! The four of us sampled ten different dishes over our three visits and all were delicious. Food isn’t too expensive and we’ll worth every penny.

I made it here on my fourth day of walking St Oswald’s Way. I was tired and wet and I was greeted and ushered to a beautiful room. The room had everything I needed for the night and the bathroom even had a bath tub. The restaurant has a varied menu and I went for the pork souvlaki. Definitely worth trying! The a**osphere was welcoming and warm and I had a great conversation with a couple seated next to me. I went with pancakes for breakfast the before day 5 of my walk and that kept me going all day.

We'd seen a couple of negative reviews about this restaurant but we're staying locally so decided to try it anyway, and we are so pleased we did!! We hadn't booked, and on arrival we were told there may be a short delay as they were hosting a large party. We were shown to our table and brought drinks whilst we perused the menu. Our orders were taken quickly and our food arrived about 10 minutes later. My husband started with leek & potato soup (very nice) and for main, liver & bacon (one of his favourites), which was cooked to perfection. I had pan fried salmon which was delicious. We finished with coffee. The staff were great, attentive and friendly and are certainly not deserving of the negative reviews. We had a lovely evening and I would definitely recommend visiting the Three Wheat Heads if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed.

huge meal portions, excellent breakfast. comfortable bed and facilities. Fabulous view that can changes by the minute. super friendly staff.
