First, the positive. The resort is absolutely gorgeous, We loved having our own hale or house. The hales are very cool and really nicely decorated. The pools and beach are great. The staff (with the exception of check in people) are very friendly and helpful, Now, the negative. I booked our stay through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts (“FHR”). Even though I had a confirmation number and could show that I made the reservation, they had no record of our reservation. They had available rooms so they were able to accommodate us. They said they would figure everything out with Amex (the room rate and the other amenities) and have an updated bill when we checked out. Not so. The bill they gave me showed a room rate $500 more per night than I agreed to and no credits for the FHR amenities. Clearly, no one called Amex. I looked up the deposit I had made and it turned out I forgot I had prepaid the room rate, I showed them and they seemed surprised. They told me they would figure it out and email me. We’ve been back one week and I’ve received no email but have seen a large charge on my credit card from them and I have no idea what it covers. They said that has never happened to them before and it must have been a technology issue. Who knows but I did not feel they were appropriately apologetic and they even became somewhat rude when I questioned the massive bill they gave me upon checkout that was so clearly wrong but no one bothered to fix it.
