We booked the Herbert Samuel Opera for the week before a family wedding planned for October 9. It's a lovely, comfortable, relatively small hotel in a wonderful location. We had room with a balcony overlooking the beach. The amenities and breakfast buffet are not the reason I'm writing this review though. I'm writing because we were in this hotel at the time of the October 7 Hamas attack and stayed there until we departed Israel on October 12. The hotel staff maintained an atmosphere of normalcy and calm every day. Everyone from the room attendants to the barista to the receptionists continued doing their jobs in a totally professional manner. When United Airlines cancelled all its Israel flights and left thousands of travelers frantically scrambling for alternative arrangements, the hotel did everything humanly possible to maintain continuity of service and a sense of normalcy. I was honestly moved by the staff's professionalism and humanity. Many of the staff were refugees from other countries, including Ukraine, but they somehow showed up for work and did their jobs. In particular, there was a man at the front desk named Moti S. I think he was an assistant manager. He was so kind and accommodating, I literally still can't believe it. All of our friends who were also staying at the hotel had to change their plans, and he took all the stress out of the process. To say I was deeply impressed and appreciative is an understatement.

Stay away from this hotel!! warm advice. The staff is a bunch of bitter sad people that will not show hospitality, you can get a lot better for the same price in terms of quality, many hotels charge way less and are much better, I planned a proposal near the fountain outside of the hotel, this was a rare timing and an epic surprise. everything was arranged and paid for, which basically meant a filming crew and filming gear. the proposal was meant to be by the fountain outside the hotel in the public area, when arrived with the filming crew the same day to figure out locations of cameras, it was raining like hell I asked the hotel manager for a permission to propose in the lobby in case it would rain. but i got a cold, cold shoulder from the manager. this guy was putting sticks in the wheels of this, not allowing pretty much anything to happen, i was shocked, who the hell does not like a proposal on inside his business establishment? i did not ask for anything, no production was needed, everything was set, we just needed a shelter from the rain in the case it would happen, but i guess this is too much to ask. the proposal was postponed, thank you Harbert Samuel Hotel! for leading a later unfortunate chain of events. As long as this Shay guy maanges the hotel, i recommend skipping it, see the other comments... Think my opinion is biased? look at the pictures and think again.

Coming to this hotel was the worst idea! For the first sight it is gorgeous, but when you stay there it is like cheap hostel! First of all, when you book standard room you need to understand that there are not any windows! At all! Horrible breakfast with addled fruits! Everything was on very low level

Lovely hotel, nice size rooms, great bathroom with large shower & fluffy towels. Lots of cupboard space. Right across from the beach. Easy walk to most places. Breakfast was very good & the chef Shai showed me what was vegan & gave me vegan quiche & cake. The manager was around to talk to which is always nice & Neta made great oat milk cappuccino & Moti was a delight & has quite a sense of humour. Great staff . Always able to get a chair at the pool. Definitely would stay again. Our friend moved out of his hotel & came to stay at HSO because we said it was great.

We were so pleasantly surprised. We weren't sure what to expect, but the location was outstanding and our room was very spacious. While the pool isn't huge, it was enough to spend plenty of time there and enjoy a drink or two. There are two great fast food spots adjacent to the hotel, which made for lots of choices. It's a comfortable walk to the Carmel Market, Rothschild Street, Nachalat Binyamin, and other popular spots in Tel Aviv. And we witnessed two beautiful sunsets. The proximity to the beach can't be beat--we loved seeing all the beachgoers, youth visitors, and locals. We'll definitely stay here again on future trips.

Great location on the beach with easy walking distance to many locations you want to go. We had a sea view room with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom is small but nicely done with a rain head shower. The breakfast is delicious and varied. There is a pool but it's small with not enough shade or seating so we never got to use it bc it's crowded all the time. The gym is decent. The front desk staff isn't so friendly or accommodating but it didn't really matter.

We were in Tel Aviv for a family function and with help, was recommended this hotel. We booked directly on their web site for a discount. You can book on other web sites. One of the issues of their web site was to separate for an outside web site to make it look like theirs. The hotel was on the beach and difficult to reach as, unlike other hotels on the beach, the entrance was not on the street off the beach or adjacent street. To get picked up or dropped off, you would have to walk to the beach or around the corner. The rooms were nice. We had a deluxe room with city view which was average size. The deluxe view with a beach view was more expensive and was a much larger room with balcony. They also have rooms whose windows are inside facing the lobby. Try to got a room on 3rd or 4th floor. I know someone with room on 5 and had to take the elevator to 4 and find the other elevator to 5. Had nice breakfast, but staff was slow in refilling items, like scrambled eggs. Hotel was somewhat pricy like the other hotels on the beach, but less expensive than Hilton or Sheraton with similar rooms and services.

An amazing hotel in a great position We love everything about this hotel. The staff are attentive and very helpful. The breakfast is delicious Our accommodation was very good large room with a balcony overlooking the beach. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back here when we return to tel Aviv
