Taunton Town House

Firstly let me say that I have worked in the hotel industry and have a bit of knowledge of what I'm about to put Oh dear what a shame Location brilliant Parking brilliant Room not so much. There is no excuse for what we had to stay in. Pure laziness would explain the dust on lampshades, cobwebs on walls and the black mold/mildew marks in the shower are unexcusable. Cracked tiles, rusty towel holder, rusty radiator, stained floor and dirty grout. No this is not just down to poor housekeeping staff this is down to someone who thinks it's ok to sell rooms in this condition. Lazy? Yes! Because it takes no time at all to do regular room inspections and get maintenance in to rectify the issues found. I'm guessing this isn't done because you don't want to spend the money?? Please also go a little further than the local charity shop to furnish your rooms. 5 bits of furniture and nothing matched and all looked like they were a job lot from the 80's. Your other reviews are a mixed bag so I'm guessing some rooms are ok. When booking a room with a king size bed I want a king size bed as booked. Not a bed for a king from the land of oz. That was not a king size bed. Put the effort in and you will get the rewards. I'm guessing by your trip advisor score you aren't putting the effort in. Thank you for taking my money, I shouldn't think for a minute you'll offer me some kind of reimbursement. Why because you don't care. If you did it would be shown in the state of your room. Thank you for the experience.

Terrible disgraceful customer service! Accommodation is basic but ok. After my stay I contacted them by email as I hadn’t received my invoice. After no response for a week I phoned the number on the website. No answer but I did get a text asking for the name and date of stay which I provided. After three hours I politely asked if they had sent it and asked for it to be sent to another email as I suspect it wasn’t getting through. They said they can’t do that! Only once I stated I would dispute the payment with the bank if I did not get my invoice did they send it. After saying ‘you must be so poor’. Absolutely shocking treatment from someone in hospitality!

Pros: good size family room, not unreasonable for the price. Fairly clean, if a little tired. Good sized car park. Central location. Cons: rooms on the front are on a busy road. With windows open, this is noisy all night. The hotel is unmanned with key boxes for the rooms, so more like an Airbnb than a hotel. Inadequate milk provided for hot drinks in the room, but reception unmanned.

We found it very noisy struggled to sleep, the front door gets slammed a lot with no staff on to sort this out. Dusty room with a moldy shower curtain and the shower went cold after a couple mins the plumbing makes a horrible noise that can't be ignored. We won't be back.

Lovely stay at the Taunton town house. A very grand and well maintained house right in the town centre, plenty of parking right outside which was free of charge which was ideal. Place was very clean and a large superior room with separate seating area

Visiting friends in the area and came across the town house as was driving through. Great grand town house which was very well kept and looked after well could see. The room was a standard room but was very clean and nicely finished. Fantastic location to the town just across the road
