Riad Tafilag

Beautiful riad in the centre of Taroudant a proper Moroccan town. Lots of nice terraces to sit in. Had dinner in the hotel one night which does have to be ordered but was tasty. Breakfast is a simple Moroccan affair but plenty and can have eggs. Lots of steps to rooms so not good if can’t do lots of steps. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

What a lovley Riad, wonderful room very spacious, nice bathroom, good hot water, nice balcony. Very friendly good team. Dinner was nice and tasty liked the vegetarian options. Good idea at breakfast to offer choice to save on waste, bit strange to charge extra for eggs. Would be an improvement to install a wood burning stove in the restaurant area, you need heat but the open fire was very smokey. Unexpected bonus was the use of sister hotel 5 mins away with lovley pool and good sunny area. All in all highly recommend this riad. As in many places in morrocco it's cash not card

Barbara and I stayed here on our way from Zagora to Tafedna. From the outside it looked like we had ended up in the poorer side of town. Then we entered the riad through a narrow passage, and it was like entering Aladdin's cave. The interior was tastefully decorated and inviting, and the staff immediately made us feel welcome! We had our 'welcome tea' next to the pool in the inner garden. Abdul came over and chatted to us and shared some very interesting information with us which made the stay even more interesting. We had arrived late, and didn't want to inconvenience the staff, so had dinner at a place recommended by Abdul. Our room was comfortable, even if a bit hot. After a great breakfast the next morning, we were ready to take on the Moroccan roads for the final stretch to Tafedna beach.

Right from the start we knew that we had chosen somewhere special. While the streets of Taroudant are a vibrant cacophony of voices, vehicles, and livestock, Riad Tafilag is a quiet sanctuary full of peace and tranquility. My wife and I arrived late in the evening and were greeted by a smiling Brahima who poured us mint tea and provided us with a hot meal (ordered in advance), all served in the central courtyard with the stars above, perfect! There are indoor dining options and aloves throughout with chairs, tables and sofas, but after a chilly Scotland, being able to enjoy the warm air of the Moroccan night was just what we needed! We had a room at the very top of the Riad, with its own spiral staircase. Well presented with a great shower, comfy bed and west facing terrace/balcony across the roof tops of the medina, it was fantastic! Being avid birders we were keen to see what avian delights could be viewed from the balcony the next morning, and even as dawn broke the sky was filled with screaming pallid swifts and swooping little swifts. Bulbuls sang from a tree in the courtyard and house buntings hopped back and forth from the balcony to the roof, all rather good indeed! Naima was ever present at the front desk and could not have been more helpful. Speaking fluent English she assisted us in our quest to find fossils and gemstones, and via the guiding skills of both Mustapha and Tammy we discovered the marvellous 'Amethyst Fossil' man and his incredible collection just outside the southern Ramparts of the town. The evening meals were superb and we particularly enjoyed the veggie tajine. They even had cold beers and wine on offer, which was most welcome after a hot day searching the souks for gifts. Breakfast was just right, with breads, and a very wide selection of jams, peanut butter etc. and most filling. Highly recommended, you will not be dissapointed! Many thanks!!

Beautiful with lots of character and the young staff provided lots of smiles and great service. From here i managed to walk to most of the places of interest. Close to the souk and lots of restaurants. The Riad is away from the street so it was quiet. Nice comfortable room.

Un séjour en famille inoubliable grâce à la beauté du Riad et à la bienveillance de tout le personnel (Aymane, Hayat, Fatima…) Le petit déjeuner est superbe et nous avons eu l’occasion de dîner dans un cadre magique sous les étoiles et de déjeuner , c’était un délice.
