Hotel Villa Schuler

If you’ve read some of the reviews before this one, you know Hotel Villa Schuler is a diamond among the many gem accommodations of Taormina! My wife and I seek out places to stay like Villa Schuler and we found possibly our favorite stay from a long and varied list of travels! For all the reasons that can be found in the other reviews here. As for our personal experience, we found all the staff to be absolutely wonderful. We truly felt like we were treated as friends and not just hotel guests to be waited on. When we arrived at our room, we were delighted to find that it was unique in that it had 2 balconies! As far as we could tell, ours was one of only 2 like this. We recommend room #6 or the one directly above it. I’m guessing the suites on the top floor are even better but obviously with a higher rate. An added feature of the corner room with the 2 balconies is that it created great airflow in the room. Always very comfortable. This trip was so great and largely made possible through the incredible Hotel Villa Schuler. For better or worse, Taormina seems to be experiencing rapid growth at the moment because of The White Lotus series. If you want to be a part of the old charm and beauty of Taormina, choose Hotel Villa Schuler. You will fall in love with it!

‘Heaven is a place on Earth’. This is how I felt with every step I took whilst walking around the beautiful gardens from Villa Schuler in Taormina. We chose this amazing villa as it has one of the most scenic views around the coast to Etna and the sea and every morning for breakfast we would admire the surroundings that looked like a painting. Our room was at the third floor and we’ve had a lovely terrace with two sunbeds and we even got to enjoy some sun baths during this time of the year, which was amazing. The staff was extremely nice & helping and it made our stay truly incredible. If you want to have a beautiful and relaxing stay in Taormina, I really recommend this hotel. Cannot wait to come back soon!

My husband and I had an amazing stay at Villa Schuler in April. It is located in the perfect spot to explore Taormina and the views are absolutely gorgeous - we had a lovely breakfast every day looking out onto the sea and the rest of Taormina with Mt Etna in the distance. Our room, which was clean and somewhat quirky, faced the water and we had a small sun room and terrace, which worked out perfectly for the mostly clear, but somewhat cool weather during our stay. I wish we could have stayed longer!

We’ve just spent wonderful five days at this beautiful hotel. I have travelled extensively throughout my life, and believe me, you can always tell if the team at a property takes pride in their work and feels well respected. Each and everybody at the Villa Schuler is top notch. Service is very personal and genuinely friendly, but never obtrusive. The property itself with its beautiful gardens is impeccably maintained and has charm and ambience. We had a junior suite with a private terrace and sweeping views of the Ionian sea. I don’t understand why some reviewers point out a lack of modern amenities: Our suite had a refrigerator, air conditioning, TV and wifi. That’s modern enough for me. One of my personal daily enjoyments was the à la carte breakfast on the hotel’s terrace. The price is currently 22 Euros, and again, I don’t see why some reviewers would criticize the value: You can order as much as you like from an extensive menu of foods and drinks, mostly locally sourced. If a big breakfast is not your thing, just don’t book it. The front desk also arranges transportation and excursions for guests per request. We booked transportation to and from Catania Airport as well as a private Etna tour with wine tasting lunch. Both were excellent experiences with very personable and professional drivers/guide. I can highly recommend this hotel and hope to be back in the future.

This hotel is lovely. It is well run by a superb team. Everyone was so helpful and thoughtful. We had the junior garden suite a the back of the hotel which was spacious and had a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. The lack of sea view was made up for by the sun terrace on the 4th floor which had wonderful sea views and a fabulous view of Mt Etna. Breakfast was excellent with so many options. The breakfast team were brilliant. The hotel was peaceful with lovely gardens but only a short walk from the bustling centre of Taormina. Shuttle service to Giardini Naxos beach was a bonus. Only negative was the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. On the whole a wonderful stay in a hotel we were sad to leave. Thank you everyone.

We have hesitated before selecting this hotel. It is not cheap, and we like to have a sea view but selected the last room available on the garden side. And we liked it very much as there is a view on a real beautiful garden. The people are very nice, helpful and professional. We loved the breakfast on the terrasse with sea view: many choices a la carte and you can select as much as you want. We recommend the home cakes. Good point to offer a bottle of water in your room every day.

We loved this hotel so much, we extended our stay. We stayed in the Garden Suite for 10 days. The room was so private, quiet and peaceful yet only a 3 minute walk through a gorgeous garden to all the shops, restaurants and crowds of Taormina. I cannot say enough about the amazing staff here. All so kind, helpful, and always available to us. Breakfast is substantial offering cereals, yogurts, breads and croissants, eggs to order, fresh cheeses, fresh squeezed blood orange juice, Italian and American coffee and fresh fruits. All this while eating your breakfast with an amazing view of the turquoise sea and Mt. Etna looming in the background. There is also a rooftop area with loungers and an amazing view. Drinks are served upon request. The private garden space is something to see with amazing plants, flowers, fruit trees and a fish pond. Tables and chairs are available in the garden for peace,quiet and conversation. As a travel industry veteran and owners of our own boutique travel agency, this hotel is an unexpected find. So much so, we have already made reservations to come back and I will most confidently recommend this hotel to our clients coming to Taormina. Lastly, it would be unfair of me to submit this review without special and heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff of this hotel. Simona, Marieangela, Elena and all the rest who exemplify the epitome of excellent customer service, Marco who took care of our luggage and made the best Aperol Spritz, Rosita, Luca and Evgenya who made our breakfast every morning a delight with a bright Sicilian smile, excellent service and fulfilled all our breakfast wants within reason even if it wasn’t on the menu. We appreciate all your hard work and your willingness to please and we look forward to returning again in the fall. Grazie mille a tutti! Abbracci!

The most incredible hotel! Truly charming, exceptional staff, generous and delicious breakfast and the most breath taking views. We stayed for three nights in an ocean view bedroom, and we loved every moment. The hotel was so elegant, and had so much Sicilian craft with a feel of the Grand Tour and historical prestige. The staff were so welcoming, helpful and smiling. We would love to visit again in the future. Highly recommended!

First of all, excellent location. A few steps away from the Main Street and main attractions of Taormina. Second of all, the room was amazing, with an amazing view, clean, even the small detail of the light up bathroom window was on point to the whole style of a well kept villa in a modern customized way, respecting all its glory and beauty of the past days. A beautiful garden and a beautiful terrazza for breakfast. The breakfast even though it was charged extra, everything was fresh and there were many options. Also, with extra charge was the private parking, but we arrived with the car directly to the hotel, and we were feeling safe as to where we were leaving our car. The stuff was also very helpful, with everything about the hotel but also with restaurant recommendations and general information about Taormina. Last but definitely not least, our favourite member of the stuff was Marco. Always with the smile, he was the one to welcome us and to say goodbye to us, to help us carry our luggage in and out of the hotel, and he is also a barman, a waiter and always around to help. He reminded it is of the lobby boy from the movie “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and we mean it in the most respectful way possible, the one that anticipated the client’s needs.
