Cinnabar Resort

Great location and style of cabanas, with treehouses and lovely seating area. Gorgeous pool too! The thing that let it down was the very oily and buttery tasting food! I ordered a curry, but it just tasted of butter, and not a nice tasting butter. Far too rich. Not coconut milk. Really strange taste.

Since our first trip to Sri Lanka in 2012 we have kept returning to Cinnabar. Magical enviroment at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Fantastic bungalows and treehouses surronded by amazing rainforrest. Unmatched friendly staff that goes all the way to make your stay the best. And last but not least the best food you can imagine with a mix of traditional Sri Lankan food whith a luxury twist and Italian food as pasta and pizza. Go there you wont regret it.

had an amazing time at the cinnabar resort, a friend recommended I stay here and it was asome, We are a young couple in our 20s and had great time. It was by far the best hotel I have stayed in, with a unique location and amazing views, truly 5 star. It does have the price to match, but it my opinion it was worth it. Mainly for the immaculate grounds and unbeatable service. Good looking beverage and food menu also tasty, sunset cocktails was brilliant, beast seafood so far in Sri Lanka, thanks to Charlie for helping us, and he's very cute, when he was smile so handsome, we found very nice Tour driver in cinnabar, Nisal excellent driver, highly recommend him for tour around the island, thanks to all staff for wonderful service, definitely we will be back..

Best place in Sri Lanka so far! Overwhelmed by the quirky, beautifully designed accommodation on a stunning corner of Sri Lanka. You can choose from a treehouse, a clay hut or little apartments set amongst nature, but right on the beach. We were able to view all of them and choose. Cinnabar is a quiet, mellow place to stay but with a great atmosphere. The restaurant food is sooooo tasty and they can't do enough for you. Everything is kept really clean and tidy and the brothers who run it are super friendly, but in a nice subtle way. Never trying to sell you anything, like in some places. They just want you to enjoy your time in Sri Lanka and get to know you as friends. The best places I've stayed in,in 7 weeks of being in Sri Lanka. Great italiano wood oven pizzeria, seafood platter asome tosome, best fusion cocktails in sri lanka which i had whole trip. Owner kamal very Help Full and also he's ex.chef is master i guess, food and beverage menu was very Creative, better than any Where else in thangalla... Thanks chef again wonderful menu and delicious selection.. We highly recommend this place to anyone and wish the Cinnabar team all the luck in the world as they truly deserve it! We will be back! X

Someone had a dream and made it come true. If you have also dreamed of spending your vacation in a tree house by the beach, there is probably no better place. In addition, great food and friendly service, a fantastic swimming pool. Not many places deserve 5, but I have no doubts about this place. Just remember that you are in the jungle and communing with nature.

We wanted to try different experiences in Sri Lanka and when I stumbled on the Cinnabar Resort it ticked the box. Our tree house was magnificent, spacious and clean but no room service we had to empty bins make beds and ask for clean towels. I have to say though that not all tree houses were of the same standard, our sons, bizarrely had a stick floor, very uncomfortable under foot and if you drop anything then it was gone on to the roof beneath , you also had an assault course of branches to limbo through to get to the toilet! They are very conscious about cleanliness around the resort, the foot pools are emptied and scrubbed daily, picking leafs up etc. The restaurant was very good but beware of their suggestions for wine they don't show you the cheaper bottles, dismissing the yellow tail as "sweet", which it wasn't, we went with their suggestion and had a couple of bottles.... £34 per bottle!! not very happy!!The sea food was delicious! So in conclusion, a truly beautiful place to stay and a wonderful experience just beware of the few negatives I've mentioned.
