Kokona

Our second visit in two years to this cosy little hotel located in the quiet back lanes of Gialos yet within 2 minutes walk of the harbour. We had the same room on the first floor on both occasions, nicely renovated if a bit on the small side. Kokona and her staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is optional and charged separately from the room should you require it (we didn’t) - for a set rate you select what you would like the evening before by way of a tick box menu left in your room each day.

The hotel has a very convenient location close to the harbour and in the centre of Gialos. Since it is in the still flat part one doesn't have to carry the suitcase up some stairs. Although near many restaurants it is in a quiet corner by Agios Joannis church. My room (No 1) was on the ground floor and it was of a decent size. There was good lighting, except by the small desk, and a comfortable bed. It had a fridge with two small water bottles, also tea and coffee making facilities. Not much to sit though, except the stool from the desk. There was enough storage space in the room, but not in the rather small bathroom. Breakfast could be ordered the day before. From the many items on offer one could select a total of 14 for 12 Euros. Suspecting that the cappuccino might be weak (which it was was) I had also requested an espresso to be poured into the cappuccino. The pleasant breakfast area was outside under a trellis, where one could also hang one's towels and bathing suits. Service was by a friendly young lady, who also works at reception. Sometimes Mrs Kokona (the hotel has her family name) was present as well, who gave me useful recommendations for dinner places.

I stayed four nights at this wonderful hotel. The lady at the reception maybe the owner was very welcoming. Everything was wonderful, the room very clean, comfortable bed, quiet, all the amenities needed like AC, fridge, safe, toiletries. I had a room with a balcony second floor looking the church. I had one morning the breakfast, a delight. If I have the chance to visit beautiful Symi, this is my place to stay. Symi is a beautiful island, I went to Panormitis Monastery with Panormitis Travel who sell ticket for the round trip by bus. One of the highlights of my five weeks trip Dodecanese Islands was the boat tour with Poseidon, you have to do it if you want to experience something you will never forget and remember a long time.

A great host and great hotel. Very well maintained and looked after wee=ll. A family run hotel. Breakfast was included, order the night before and to the patio outside in the sunshine. Bathroom is very modern and clean. new towels provided every day. Internet is free and available in the bedroom and patio. Hotel in in a very quit area just off the main street.

L’hôtel est situé à proximité du port de Symi et il est proche de nombreux commerces et restaurants, tout en étant dans une rue calme. L’accueil par la propriétaire et ses petites filles a été chaleureux. Elles ont pris le temps de parler de Symi et de la vie sur l’île. La chambre a été refaite récemment. Tout est très propre et neuf. Le lit est confortable. Le rapport qualité / prix est très bon.

Σκετη απογοητευση! Κλεισαμε το ξενοδοχειο ενα μηνα πριν την άφιξη μας!βλεποντας τις φωτογραφίες ανυπομονούσαμε για ενα φωτεινό ,καθαρό,ανετο δωματιο. Αντ αυτού βρεθηκαμε σε ενα τρίκλινο (π σημαίνει πληρωμένο πολυ πιο ακριβα ,125€χωρις πρωινο-Μάιος)δωματιο ισογείου με δυο παράθυρα κλειστά μπαίνοντας ,καταλαβαίνετε την απογοητευση μας κ οταν τα ανοίξαμε ειχαμε για θεα τον τοιχο τ σπιτιού της γειτόνισσας!…Ενταξει παει αυτο η ιδιοκτήτρια -μεγαλη σε ηλικία δεν ηταν φιλική ουτε επαγγελματίας δεν φροντισε με κανεναν τροπο ν ανατρέψει την απογοητευση μας ,ισα ισα π δεν την ξαναείδαμε για τις επομενες τρεις μερες !!!απιστευτο!πριν κλείσετε καποιο δωματιο σιγουρευτείτε για το τι σας προσφέρει!…κριμα π την ομορφιά του νησιου θ πρεπει ν την συνοδεύει η θύμηση αυτής της φιλοξενίας!
