Great location and the most amazing vegan dishes and bar/pool area. It’s definitely one of the best rooftops I ever been. However, the area, very central and near the night market, is pretty noisy and if you’re unlucky to get the bedrooms that have the AC hanging from their walls it’s even worse, not even earplugs helped since you can feel their vibration too. I had to change from a bigger and more comfortable room to the smallest because of it. I could barely manage to take shower without wetting the whole bathroom and forget two people fitting in it. The staff is very helpful and friendly, except for one lady in the reception. I’d definitely go there to enjoy the sunset and for food, but I’m not sure I’d stay for a more than one night again unless I was certain I got a bigger room with less noise.

The food is anazing, but the waiter on the ground floor is and is behaving more like a watchman. During three different visits over the last two years i was turned away in a very unfriendly manner. Earlier it was much more welcoming. The atmosphere on 4th and 5th floor is great though.

I stayed in Upendo with my friend in May. We have absolutely loved our stay. Upendo is at the heart of Stone Town and finding it was quite easy. We were very warmly welcomed and the place is just simply beautiful. I might've had the best shower of my life here. The bar is perfect for a sundowner, the swimming pool is lovely. For breakfast they offer something out of the standard, which we loved.

Excellent stay! I love the staff and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Enjoyed the rooftop pool and restaurant. Centrally located in stone town. The only improvement would be to eliminate the occasional unwanted crawling critter. Otherwise a perfect stay.

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Stone Town. Good spacious rooms with all amenities. Breakfast was fab , an excellent choice available and served with a smile. The special Valentines dinner was delicious but the singer was far too loud and conversation was difficult.

Krishnan and his staff were excellent, and made us more than welcome! The hotel is right in the heart of Stone Town, a perfect location for walking the streets and sightseeing! The rooms were nice, a little on the small side, but the bed was very comfortable, with a nice walk in shower. All in all, a great place to stay, when visiting Zanzibar!

My room was very comfortable, if a bit overpriced. Unfortuately my view out the window was an alley of rusted roofs and infrastructure - this was #203 - more like a very comfortable cell. The electricity went out in the middle of the night making it very hot. However, the rest of the hotel was pleasant, the upper floors are surely preferable, but you must be able to walk up.. lll in all a good, safe location and nice staff. I wish they would have either put me in a better room or charged me less.

We visited the hotel for dining in its fine restaurant facing the famous Rock restaurant in Zanzibar. Fine dining in affordable price. Beautiful boutique with local designers clothes and accessories. Friendly personnel and courteous service.

Very nice rooms and delicious meals The waiter is adorable, her name is Lydia and she was the smiliest and most efficient person there :) A huge thank you to everyone who made us enjoy this place The rooftop is great
