This only got a 2 because we were moved from our room into a two bedroom apartment. Otherwise I wouldn’t have stayed at all. You enter through a cafe which had a sign on the door saying the kitchen is closed. We were then taken up several flights of stairs to an attic room. The lift was broken, had we had heavy cases we would not have been able to carry them. The room was small and painted in very dark colours, but modern. Immediately it was clear the bathroom had not been cleaned. The toilet bowl was dirty and the sink and shelves had hairs and marks on them. The towels were rolled up and laid on the bed, but were damp with marks on them. The cleaner was called back to clean the bathroom while we were given complimentary drinks. On going back to our room I sat on my bed and noticed the pillow cases had dirty marks on them, as did the sheets! Once more I went down to the bar to ask for different bedding and I was asked to wait on the owner. After about one hour the owner appeared. We were only in Stirling for one night and we had now spent two hours waiting on a useable room. On arrival the owner moved us to a lovely two bedroom apartment. Breakfast was disappointing. No smoked salmon as pre booked, no avocado, no fruit, no cereal, no toast and jam. I believe the hotel is in the process of being sold. Hopefully, the new owners will address those problems, as it’s in an excellent location. The staff in cafe/reception were friendly and the decor in the cafe/breakfast room is lovely.
