Boord Guest House

Quirky guesthouse, excellent staff and service. Owner extremely helpful in arranging hairdresser appointments for family wedding. Beautiful spacious bedroom and welcoming bottle of wine. Would definitely recommend a stay at the Boord Guesthouse. Convenient location.

Lovely vintage vibe in the guest house, staff were amazing, and personal, we had flowers and champagne for our anniversary. It's the small personal touches that are the best with this place. This is an amazing place for reaching out into Stellenbosch

This guest house was ok but certainly not worth the money we paid. The bathroom in particular was full of black mould, no shower curtain so the water flooded out each time we showered and we were left with a very dirty and used sponge in the kitchenette. We were asked how our stay was on our second day and I explained the issues. The owner didn’t know which room we were in when I said we were in room 4 and had to ask one of the hosts which one it was. I got the impression she comes in for checkin and checkout and doesn’t do much in between. The bathroom was cleaned and their reason was they didn’t think it could be cleaned and googled how to do it! We were then offered a free additional night which was impossible as we were going to a wedding. We had asked for a refund of some sort to make up for things and were told this was impossible. Having both managed a hotel in UK for many years and now doing the same in Zimbabwe, we know this isn’t the case. We are also very understanding of the operational problems that hospitality workers are faced with and the fact we asked for a refund was evident of our complete disappointment. Our suggestion would be to the owner to take more time in checking the every day things and not to leave it to her staff Deal with the complaint and always try and keep the guests happy before they resort to a bad review. In this case, a refund of one nights stay instead of the offer of an additional night was a simple and fair request. Having dealt with TripAdvisor reviews for many years I have no doubt the owner will try to justify things but would seriously suggest that you take this review constructively and make some changes. Breakfast was also very disappointing to the point we chose not to eat on 3 mornings out of the 5 we were there.

Had a lovely weekend in this vintage feel guest house, the staff were amazing and friendly. Arranged everything I had requested for our anniversary weekend. Rose petals and champaign - I didn't have to do a thing. The breakfast layout was lovely, they made the best fresh baked banana loaf.

We were treated to a lovely night and very good treatment and breakfast. Thank you very much.... I can recommend Die Boord to anyone who would like clean, neat accommodation at a reasonable price. The staff are very friendly and helpful. . :)

Don't let the candyfloss pink website scare you off. The staff, the ambiance, and the vintage feeling of being at home is what will draw you in to the boord house and make you want to come back. Sherry has the anglophile touches and the origami animal heads that I want in my home. There was small personal touches that show a difference to the big corporate hotels yh CT, and the personal touch of the staff made a massive difference for me.
