Refurbished for summer 2024 Butterfields offers a beautiful space for families or groups of couples to relax and unwind in. The house is situated in a secluded spot on the edge of the privately owned and gated Estate village of Perlethorpe at the heart of Thoresby Estate, one of the four traditionally ducal estates that gave the area the nickname the Dukeries. The house was built in the 1980s for a member of the Pierrepont family, who have owned the Estate for over 400 years, and was designed with entertaining in mind.The HouseThere are 3 double bedrooms (1 Super King and 2 King size beds) and one twin room, which can be made into a double bed, all with ensuite bathrooms. There is also the option for a double sofa bed on the mezzanine room allowing the house to sleep up to 10 guests. All beds have luxury Egyptian Cotton bedding and towels. The bathrooms are all new in 2024 with two comprising of a shower over a bath and the other two are showers. Three of the bedrooms are all on the downstairs level allowing easy access for guests with limited mobility. Cots and High Chairs are available on request.There is a large kitchen dining area with access onto a patio with an outdoor table and large coal fired BBQ. The drawing room offers a large family entertaining space with a log burning fire, double doors opening directly out onto the garden and views across open fields and the garden. Upstairs there is a separate TV and reading area, perfect for if some of the group want some quiet time with views across the fields and water meadows.Outside there is private parking for several cars at the front. The 1 acre walled garden at the back of the house provides a safe space for children and dogs to explore whilst the adults relax.Surrounding AreaFrom the house guests can walk down Estate roads up to the Courtyard (15min walk) where there is a café, brewery, children’s playground and selection of shops and artists workshops. For those who enjoy walking or cycling the Sustrans cycle path links Thoresby Estate to the wider cycling network and Clumber Park (1.75 miles to the edge of the Park). Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and the Major Oak is a 10 minute drive away with miles of walking routes through Sherwood Country Park.For those more interested in history or exploring local shops the historic towns of Newark and Southwell are less than 30 minutes away and the bigger cities of Nottingham, Lincoln and Sheffield are only 45 minutes by car.There are several popular wedding venues all within a quick taxi ride away. Thoresby was one of the four country Ducal Estates which gave the nickname Dukeries to the area due to the high number of Dukes who lived in the area, and is still owned by the Pierrepont family today. Century House was built in 19th Century and was traditionally home to the Estate Land Agent with the last Agent leaving in 2019.Century House boasts an elevated position with large gardens with extensive views over grazing Parkland across to the village of Perlethorpe.Downstairs there are two double aspect south/south east facing large living rooms and one smaller snug/games room offering a wide selection of spaces for everyone to spread out or to come together and enjoy the space. All three rooms have original period features, TV's and one has an cosy log burning fire.The large kitchen was refurbished in 2020 and has an electric oven as well as an electric AGA. The central island provides plenty of space for cooking. Opposite the kitchen is a large family dining room with plenty of space to seat all 13 guests. High chairs can be provided upon request and childrens cutlery and plates are provided.There is a large utility room with a dishwasher, washing machine, airer and ironing board and iron and plenty of space to sort out mucky boots, coats, children and dogs after a day exploring the beautiful Sherwood Forest!Upstairs there are 4 large bedrooms. One double aspect room overlooking the meadows with a large four poster bed and ensuite. The other front room is also double aspect looking across the meadows and has a Super King bed. The other two overlook the gardens and have twin beds that can be made into doubles.
