The Lodge Stanwell

My fiancé and I had a brief but wonderful stay at The Lodge Stanwell! We had a 16 hour layover in London following our Europe trip and didn't want to sleep in the airport, so we looked for a local bed and breakfast that was both near the airport and near a local Tesco so we could stock up on British snacks to take home to the US. I fondly remember staying at a local bed and breakfast outside of Manchester every time my family came to visit my dad's side in Liverpool while growing up, so I was thrilled when I found this gem through a quick Google search. Not only did I end up booking for nostalgia's sake, but the room price was extremely reasonable compared to what other places would charge for such a prime location. Paul was very easy to contact and was quick to respond to any and all communication. He greeted us upon our arrival, showed us around, and gave us a variety of dinner recommendations that were just down the road (less than a 10 minute walk); we chose the chippy and it was just as good as we hoped it would be! After that, we carried on down the road to the Tesco Extra to grab some Jaffa Cakes and other classic British snacks. There was tea available back at the room to enjoy, with a kettle provided to boil the water, and there is WiFi as well. What made this trip so easy was that Paul has all of the local transportation listed. The bus routes were linked, and getting to and from the airport only cost a few pounds each. You can get picked up from the 7 or 8 stop right outside Terminal 5 at Heathrow and dropped off almost right outside the front door of the lodge. If the bus times don't work for you or you have more luggage, there are options to add things like car service (and breakfast) when booking the room. Overall, we had an extremely pleasant stay and will definitely return should we ever need to spend a night outside of Heathrow again!

Paul was easy to communicate with, sending my husband emails explaining details of where to park and easy to follow directions. Paul met us on arrival and the 4 of us ( 2 adults, 2 teens) instantly felt at home . He showed us to our rooms and offered to help with our bags. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Paul gave us directions to walk the 5 mins to local takeaways and a pub. We were very comfortable staying here and we will definitely return next time we are in the area. Thank you Paul - it was a pleasure to stay with you. P.s. Your garden is beautiful!

The Host, namely Paul, is a very hostile and rude individual. We were so terrified to stay at his venue that Booking refunded our money after the host failed to repeatedly respond to Booking. Having had a similar experience in the past with venues out of the airport boundaries, I recommend you stay at the airport hotels and avoid any unpleasantness. It might be a little more expensive but well worth it to be in a safe and welcoming venue.

An unplanned one-night stay (due to flight cancellation) just an Uber ride away from Heathrow (we found the host Paul also provides rides as well). An online booking led us to a comfortable place to stay for the night with a marvelous and accommodating host. He provided directions to a local Chinese take-out for a late-night meal after a horrendous and lengthy experience at Heathrow! He also provided detailed instructions on how to get to Kings Cross station for a train the next day (as the airline couldn't get us on another flight for an additional day).

My stay was very pleasant, the bed was very comfortable, I loved the room decor, facilities, and the small treats such as chocolate and coffee which made my stay even better. Paul was nice and welcoming. Breakfast is highly recommended too. The neighborhood is quite and feels very safe. Easy to get to from Heathrow terminal 5. Best stay I had in my trip.

Although we only stayed one night, we really enjoyed the Lodge Stanwell. The owner greeted us earlier than our check-in time so that we could go into London for the evening. The rooms are comfortable and clean and super convenient to Heathrow.
