Ship Inn Stanley

We absolutely loved this quirky and delightful hotel. We stayed one night in Roaring Tom’s and wished we had longer! The apartment is so well put together with everything you would need, we appreciated self check in and breakfast provisions. Although we didn’t make use of the guest lounge we did have a look at would have happily spent an afternoon reading books in there - and inclusions like the gym, bikes, amazingly manicured gardens and laundry are all great. Stanley itself is a wonderful little town that’s well worth a visit. Great stay and looking forward to our return visit.

Absolutely amazing, we loved our stay in the Cape Grim Cottage. Beautiful view, cosy bed and amazing fresh loaf of fresh baked sourdough bread along with jams and tea waiting for us. Wonderful. Very central to local shops, bistro and the nut Chairlift along with the penguins at the beach.

I was looking for a cosy place to stop for a few days after a lot of travel and a three day hike. The Ship Inn was perfect. The decor is beautiful and the my attic room, the Greenhills, had everything I needed to curl up with a book or just watch TV while Tassie turned on some wild winter weather outside. The morning loaf of sourdough made a great breakfast for several of the mornings I stayed, though I also had a full cooked breakfast at one of the recommended local cafes. The other local recommendations were also excellent for evening meals. The communication before I came was via email and SMS and very helpful and the lockbox key system was low fuss and made checking in and out simple. The guest laundry also proved handy when I got caught in a hail storm on the Nut and got soaked. The staff were unobtrusive, efficient and friendly when I cam across them. And I met the owner, Alastair, as I was leaving and had a good chat. This is a beautiful property and a perfect base for a few days exploring Stanley and the surrounding region. Very highly recommended.

Ship Inn Stanley is the best-ever accommodation, and Kerry and Alastair are the perfect hosts. The memory that we return to the UK with is certainly that of our wonderful stay at Van Diemen's Apartment in the pretty coastal town of Stanley. We will return!!!

Do yourself a favour - Ship Inn Stanley is one of the best places I've stayed in. Luxury linen & toiletries; delicious breakfast provisions; beautifully decorated; great location & a great fireplace. We didn't want to leave Roaring Tom's!

It's a phenomenal hotel with incredible attention to detail everywhere. We were only in Stanley for one night, but we wish we had stayed longer just to have more time at the Ship Inn! We're already organising another trip to get back here ASAP.

Superb! We stayed in the Van Diemen Apartment for 3 nights and loved our stay. Actually the best we had during our 3 weeks trip throughout Tasmania. The picture truely reflect the standard and quality. The historic village of Stanley is stunning too. Not to talk about the local, fresh seafood! Thanks Kerry & Alistair.

We are a very high maintenance group with unrealistically high expectations and the Ship Inn not only met our expectations but exceeded them. Accomodation was excellent, the interior design was thoughtful and subtle. The value add touches like the breakfast nook was a welcome addition. We’ll be back.
