The Gannet Inn

Went for our evening meal whilst staying in hayle. Absolutely gorgeous food, excellent quality , piping hot and generous portion size . The atmosphere was friendly , relaxed and the staff were welcoming and attentive with no sense of feeling rushed, will definitely be going again.

Stayed for our 40th wedding anniversary had a great stay was upgraded to a sea view room when we arrived. The food & decor are both great very comfortable bed. We used the spa which was included at the carbis bay hotel it was the best spa j have Been in all outside heated pool overlooking the sea. Had lunch in the orangey which was OK & quite expensive for what you get. Would return but maybe a lower floor Seaview room as alot of stairs & no lift.

We booked a table at the Gannet Inn a week before we arrived in the area. On arrival, the staff were very friendly and the quality of the food/wine was easily some of the best we have had. A very good balance between quality and price! You will struggle to beat this for the money anywhere. Everyone in our party agreed that there would be no hesitation to come here again in future. It was ideal for us, thankyou to the staff.

Our stay at The Gannet Inn left us somewhat disappointed. We had paid extra for a room with a sea view, only to find that the website failed to mention a large house with scaffolding that obstructed much of that view. This was a letdown, considering the additional cost we incurred. Another issue we encountered was the location of the spa, which is actually 1.5 miles away from the hotel and involves navigating a steep hill. Unfortunately, this crucial detail is not disclosed on their website. Being pregnant, I found it quite challenging to make the journey there and back, and ultimately had to spend extra on taxis, which was an unexpected expense. Finally, when we checked out, we noticed additional charges on our bill, including a donation and an extra hot drink that was supposed to be included in the breakfast. While I support charitable donations, I believe they should be voluntary, not automatically added to the bill without prior notice. This left us feeling like we had been charged twice for the same thing. In summary, while the hotel has potential, the lack of transparency on the website and the unexpected extra charges tarnished our experience. I would recommend future guests to double-check details and their final bill carefully.

Hotel is located in a quiet outskirt of St Ives, roughly a 5-min drive, but the seagull/bird can be quite a serious source of noise, so beware of this, or just close all the windows at night. Car park gets quite busy, so it may be required to park at the overflow car park, just across the road, but it may be troublesome at a rainy day. Room is clean and pretty, and it has the classic vibe in every corner of the inn, which I personally like it very much, except having to carry suitcase up the stairs. The bathroom looks classy, but it is actually not practical. When taking a shower, the curtain is unable to prevent the water from splashing everywhere, and the shower head is a bit weird/inconvenient to hold it. The fan in the room is not really useful, it only give out weak current. The breakfast is nice, good choice and freshly-prepared, taste nice too.

Fabulous Sunday lunch! Catered for 8 of us in our party and all the starters, mains and desserts very tasty, hot and plentiful. Great service and setting. The Pork was a personal favourite. Thank you Gannet team for a great experience………. We will be back soon!

This was our 3rd visit and we booked the Dine and Stay offer to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We were given a warm welcome by the lady on reception who advised us we had been given an upgrade and took us up to a lovely room on the second floor. Our offer included a credit towards our evening meal and the food was excellent. We booked a visit to the spa which was also included and spent a few hours lazing by the pool enjoying the sunshine. Thank you for another lovely stay!

Excellent hotel with lovely helpful staff - especially the two ladies on reception. Easy access to St Ives by either bus ( stop nr hotel) ; train or via a 30 min walk on the Coastal path. Great food options for dinner & the decor throughout was of a very high standard. The bonus was having access to the Carbis Bay hotel spa once during our stay!

We didn’t stay at the hotel, but came one evening for some food at the restaurant. We were greeted by a lovely lady at reception who pointed us in the right direction of the restaurant which was absolutely fantastic. The decor was tasteful and modern and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Every course was great and definitely recommend the mussels with fries in garlic! Would definitely be returning. The restaurant is on the pricey side but for the quality of the food and service it is definitely worth an extra few ££
