Our dog gave this hotel 5 stars. He had a good time! Our human experience was different. La Quinta in Spokane Valley used to be our go-to place when traveling with our dog. For pets, this is without a doubt an excellent choice. No pet fee, hotel is surrounded by grassy area's for sniffing and peeing. Since our last stay there have been noticeable changes, and not for the better. Housekeeping only if you put a hanger on your door and before a certain time, "or they walk on by". One shampoo tube in the bathroom, towels were threadbare, some washcloths looked "grey". No anti-slip mat for the very slippery bathtub. The hairdryer hinge was broken, the sink cracked. The fitted sheet did not stay on the mattress. No extra blanket in the closet. The carpet is getting old, it actually feels 'dirty' to walk on. Perhaps time to upgrade pet friendly rooms to laminate flooring, like other hotels are doing? Overall, the room felt unclean. The sofa bed looked like something from a second hand store, we did not bother to pull it out. The WiFi only connected on the first day, and was unavailable for the remainder of the stay. Front desk staff said "no idea why. you are the only ones in the entire hotel that have this issue". The hotel was very busy, no way this only happened to us. We were not even streaming video, just wanted access to the basics. When I explained that we each have different phones and providers, there was zero feedback, just a blank look. For us, the WiFi did not work in the room or in the lobby. The network showed up as "slow" and could only "connect without internet". Breakfast ends at 9 am. That is just uncomfortably early. OK for families with children. During our 2 night stay the hot items were GONE by 8:30 am and were not refilled. This was on a weekday. Front staff brushed that off with a "we only have one breakfast person". The pool and hot tub did not appeal either, dark and dingy environment. There are two luggage carts for the entire hotel, and none were available. When we did get hold of one the wheels were so wonky it banged into walls and could not be pulled or pushed straight. At check out a staff member said "the no pet fee is a huge deal". Yes, we agree. but the hotel's cost cutting measures are noticeable. I regret that I could not give a more positive review.
