Premier Inn Southend Airport

Spotlessly clean, well cared for and comfortable hotel. For a “cheapo” chain, this was great value for money, and they have certainly increased the comfort level since I last used one. The staff in the Hotel, and the Beefeater were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble, which is rare at this price point. We will definitely be staying there again when we need to be in that area.

I have stayed at Premier Inns before and have found them to be very good. This has got to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. There was a strong smell in both the public areas and in the bedroom. The decor was poor and to cap it all there was no breakfast of any description available. We arrived late at night were advised to go to a supermarket to purchase breakfast items. Will never stay again.

The ceiling panels in the corridors look like they are coming down, could be a safety hazard. The aircon did not work and was noisy. Bathroom disgusting and shower gel empty. For £20 more you can get a proper hotel around the corner from there!

Stayed here on June 10th 2024 The hotel is very run down and in desperate need of renovation. Check in wasn’t great, no one answered the bleeper and when they did it was just a young girl who was either training or useless and said she couldn’t check anyone in and I had to wait for someone else. The room was very old fashioned. Stunk of cigarettes. Felt dirty, underneath the beds was disgustingly coveted in a layer of dust. Bed bug heaven. The cups and glasses were filthy. I felt that the bedding hadn’t been cleaned properly as it was all marked I had the noisiest neighbour ever which really affected my sleep. I’ll never stay here again I had the pleasure of staying at the Premier inn Chipping Norton last week and gave a 5 star review, The difference in these 2 hotels from the same brand is night and day

Do not want to be negative But Hotel was very tired, and we had a serious issue with our room on arrival, Spoke to the staff on duty who were fantastic but could not resolve this as the Hotel was full over the weekend. We could not check out as we were visiting friends for a special Celebration weekend. The whole thing spoilt our stay and we would not stay here again. Good Location for the area, Shame.

Stayed for just 1 night, family get together. Rooms are quite dated - not even a USB charging point in the room(s) Decor very tired, could hear noise from next room and in the corridors with people leaving at all times during the early hours of the morning, catching an early flight I guess. Hopefully a refurb is coming for this hotel, it's needed.

Tried to book the restaurant got no reply to our email. Booked when we arrived could not have a table till late even though other people turned up without booking and were shown to tables. At the time we were booked table was not ready, staff rearranged tables and knocked cutlery on floor then just picked them up and replaced on tables. Service was very poor. Asked to see manager he was the guy who had knocked the cutlery on the floor. The service in the restaurant is a joke.

First the good news. Very comfortable bed, excellent Flatscreen TV on the wall, room on the ground floor. The bad, it was in the shower over the bath, when I slipped suddenly, landed on my back, and banged my head and elbow on the bottom of the tub. There is no optional bath mat, or ribbed safety part of the bath floor. Was well shaken up, but survived. People should be aware of this. I'd be tempted to bring my own mat if I decided to return.

One night, thankfully only one night. 2nd floor room. Needs a huge revamp. Hotel and rooms are very tired and dated. Comfy bed, and pillows. Air con is hopeless, minimum 19 degrees. Very hot room, wouldn’t want to be there in summer. Mirror attached to robe is only mirror in room. Hairdryer is at that spot but being right outside bathroom door it’s awkward. Not able to sit there, mirror needs to be over desk area. No fridge. No frills. Staff are lovely. Richard even dropped us to our function 4-5 miles away, and offered to collect us. Inexpensive but unlikely to return.
