When I arrived, I was met by a lovely young man at the front desk (such as it was). I told him who I was and he confirmed my check-in. I offered ID but he said it wasn't necessary. I noticed that the front desk staff also worked in the restaurant and there was frequently no one at the front or there was a wait until someone arrived. There was no phone in the room to contact the front desk so I found that very frustrating, especially when an alarm went off the next morning and I had no idea what was going on. I stayed two nights, and on the second night, I was looking forward to fish and chips but they had none left. I ordered a not-so-great hamburger and fries. The staff was nice but they seemed rushed. I would rather pay a bit more next time and have a hotel experience where there is a full-time front desk, room phone and a choice of restaurants in the area. I was sailing from Southampton and it was minutes from the cruise port so that is the reason I chose this hotel.
