Der Postwirt

Just back from an excellent week at Der Postwirt. An exceptional hotel, something we told Herr Bliem and his team last night. Everything is immaculate and spotlessly clean. The staff are all brilliant and friendly which makes the stay all the more enjoyable. The food, as usual, was sublime and plentiful, which really suited my 16 year old son. Our third stay and we will definitely continue to go back.

I normally wait until I get home before I write a review but I'm writing this now whilst relaxing around the pool and spa. The staff really make this place and the owners are regularly helping out and greeting customers, which is a lovely touch. The whole place is spotless and the rooms are so lovely with comfy beds. The breakfast, afternoon snacks and dinner are all excellent quality. The location is so convenient for buses to the first gondola or just a short walk if you are feeling energetic. Top marks to the Der Postwirt!

After checking many available accommodation around the Ski Welt, we ended up at Der Postwirt. It is located in the town centre of Soll, an attractive "village" style town with a mix of traditional and modern buildings. A warm welcome was given and we were directed to our rooms. Compact but very comfortable with a nice balcony. We were located in the older building of this large hotel. Traditionally, very Austrian, clean & tidy throughout. Dining area is beautifully decorated with a good mix of traditional timber and modern fixtures. The food could not be faulted at either breakfast or evening meal. An unexpected great touch was afternoon snacks & drinks ( non alcohol). Soup, chicken wings etc with bread & cakes all included! Coffee machine also. This was all looked forward to after a day skiing. Live entertainment a couple of evenings, in the bar, which has a lovely atmosphere and hard working staff keeping our drinks full, thank you. Ski bus stop just around corner takes you straight to the main gondola, in a matter of minutes. No need to pay for a locker as equipment room is more than adequate. Spa areas are stunning and lovely views from the pools. Overall this Hotel would get 5 stars from our party. Thank you to all the helpful, friendly staff throughout our stay.

We took a group of 12 to stay in Der Postwirt Hotel in Söll, Austria on 3rd February. On arrival we were given room 402. A very small room with just 3 small windows and no balcony. The bathroom was tiny with a toilet so close to the wall it was impossible to sit properly on it. The shower was dangerous, in the middle of a bath, and very slippery getting in and out. The bathroom window when open picked up the kitchen smells from the huge vent right outside. From excitement to disappointment. When we asked politely to be moved we were ignored by the hotel staff. Crystal however and their local rep Liv was excellent. We are sorry to say that our group will not use this Hotel again either in Winter or Summer

We stayed here 20th-27th January 2024 and booked via Crystal. We have been skiing for about 13 years and can say this is by far the best ski hotel we have ever stayed at. HOTEL & ROOM Before we arrived I emailed to ask if we could have a sunny balcony room which the hotel replied that unfortunately I hadn’t booked one, but when we arrived they had kindly upgraded us to a lovely balcony room, thank you so much! The room was huge, we had so much storage space and it was extremely clean and tidy. A little too warm sometimes but easily fixed by turning down the heating and opening window/balcony door. There was a safe in the wardrobe and hairdryer attached to the wall in the bathroom. We used the mini fridge daily for our own bought food and drink too from the Spar shop which was literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The pool was absolutely brilliant and great for your legs after a long day skiing! I especially liked the bathrobes the hotel provided for you to go down to the pool in. And the very comfy seats around the pool/sauna. This hotel is absolutely spotless and staff are always smiling and friendly. They simply cannot do enough for you! FOOD The food here is fabulous! There is so much choice at breakfast, you can either eat from the buffet or order hot waffles/omelette etc from the a la carte all included. I celebrated my birthday whilst at the hotel and we were given a nice glass of Prosecco each for breakfast! I especially liked the daily newsletter you were given with breakfast along with a menu choice to pick your evening meal. The hotel provided afternoon snacks between 2-5pm, so it felt more like a full board hotel and half board. This was often cakes/salads/bread/soups etc. We usually got in around 4/4:30 and it was always so fresh and stocked up. There were a few nice pubs close by, moonlight bar next to the Gondola and Whisky Mule/The Mill next to the hotel, we only ever went for a drink as the food was so good in our hotel. SKIING AND LOCATION All lifts were open 8am - 4pm, but I was told they open slightly later in Feb/March. We have never skied in Austria, we usually go to France but fancied a change and this resort is so much cheaper than France, we found food on the mountain much more affordable and roughly €5 for a pint anywhere we went. But I didn’t realise how much lower down Austria was, so it’s not guaranteed snow, but we were very lucky with the snow when we went. I did notice there was about 80% ski making facilities but never once saw one on. It was also much warmer here, we often never wore thermals!! The SkiWelt itself is huge with over 270km of runs which I’d say mostly aimed at intermediate and advance skiers/boarders. We felt the lifts/gondolas were very modern and fast here, most with heated seats/bubbles and facilities like toilets/cabins were all very clean and modern too. The main Gondola was about a 10 min walk slightly uphill from the hotel, or you could jump on the free bus outside the hotel. We did

I cannot imagine a hotel better than this in Austria! Stayed here a few times and it’s constantly evolving in good ways. Every year we stay you realise they are improving things for their guests. The afternoon ski snack was fantastic and very welcome after a day on the slopes. The entertainment was first class and I did enjoy a few Postwirt Martinis from the bar. Food in the restaurant was fresh delicious and there were choices for everyone! If you wanted you could eat Wienerschnitzel every night! Rooms were immaculate and freshened up every day to a high standard. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble to make sure you enjoy your stay with them. Honestly can’t think of a single, even slight crumble, apart from our stay going so quickly….. See you next year! x
