THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD - AVIOD
Don’t bother wasting your money at this fake ‘all’ inclusive. Everything from dinner to the parks carry an additional charge. Our checkout bill came to $350 USD and even includes charges for ‘no-showing’ an excursion, and on the same day a fee to say we attended the SAME excursion!!!!
According to other hotel guests and staff this is a frequent situation.
We waited over an hour to checkout as we argued through the bill, which meant we missed the transport the hotel arranged for us to the airport, even after I pleaded with them to ensure we had time to get to the airport
We came to a solution, but it was not perfect and was the most painful customer experience I’ve ever been through.
This is the most expensive hotel in Mexico but absolutely nowhere near the best quality. The entire experience is fuelled by up-selling you something or another. At checkout you get the ability to book again for next time at a cost of $400/night. That is about what this hotel is worth, and even that is pushing it.
Food is average at best, and if you want to go to any of the good restaurants you’ll be paying over $100 a head. Oh and that’s if you can even get a reservation at a decent time days in advance.
2 rooftop pools (the cool ones with the glass sides) are not accessible unless you stay in certain exclusive suites.
1 or 2 restaurants are the same.
Theatre show is the same all week, it’s a good show, but not anything you’d want to see again
No place to have a drink at any of the outdoor bars after 18:30, you have to go inside to the speakeasy which is like sitting in an ice box, even staff wear long trousers and hooded jackets.
Jazz band is great, but only have a repetitive 45min set with many of the same songs.
We weren’t given much information during checkin about is the hotel and amenities so we found some cool things at the last minute. The only thing they want at check in is sell you a discounted next stay. No schedules about what is happening around the hotel, No English information sheets. The app is rubbish, hardly works and almost impossible to work out anything out.
Missed out on an hour long cenote experience during the Xichen Itza trip because the app says no swimming so we didnt bring anything with us to swim or dry off. Speaking with other guests many had the same experience.
Rooms smell like sewage so you need to run water for a while to rid it every day.
Don’t waste your money on the park photos either, we were told the cost for 2 parks was $109USD, but we paid $116USD. We were told we could only see samples of the photos after we paid, and then download them 48hours after checkout. This isn’t true, you can view them in the hotel (we found out on our journey home after paying). We had some great photos at the Xenote, and thought we’d have similar at Xoximilco only to find out there were only 2 locations for photos, which means we paid $58USD for 2 photographs! The evening there was a few hours long and full of fun, so we expected MANY more photos.
It was also my girlfriends birthday whilst we were staying, the hotel did nothing for this. Entitled?Possibly, but when you pay £700 PER NIGHT I would like to have seen a little note/chocolate something, anything considering we told 2 staff during check in we would be celebrating her Birthday during the stay. So I decided to use concierge to get some flowers (at an EXTORTIONATE cost because all of the smaller bunches were ‘unavailable’) I had to pay in cash, no option to charge to the room, and didn’t have the exact amount, then I literally had to fight them at checkout to find out where it was. The manager told us they hold no responsibility for any services provided by external companies and that they don’t even have any information on who provides the flowers. This is disgusting.
I could go on
Avoid this hotel at all costs and just pay for park access, you’ll save a huge headache and chunk of cash.
