We had been planning to go to Lapland for years, however, other people we knew who'd been, suggested we wait until our children were old enough to truly enjoy and remember all the experiences on offer. I had researched accommodation but all the 'resorts' I came across seemed so huge and commercial. We are a family who travel a lot and seek really authentic experiences wherever we go. We prefer a more boutique-sized and personalised accommodation. (Just to add, we did see two other resorts with igloos and for a family, the igloos were soooo tiny. Very glad we did not book). Polar Aurora Cabins were the perfect choice for us. With just 5 cabins onsite, we felt secluded yet safe. The winter scenery was simply breathtaking and unlike anything we'd ever seen before. We stayed in cabin #5 and always felt toasty warm. The cabins are well-constructed and authentic, cosy but comfortable for our family. The sauna was fantastic and having the option to cook and prepare snacks in our own kitchen was great. We chose to have breakfast daily in the restaurant prepared by Jaana which was delicious and the Lappish dinner is a must. Mika and Jaana were the perfect hosts who made all of us feel very welcome and no request was too much for them. They can arrange a selection of activities for guests; we particularly enjoyed snowmobiling into the forest and a campfire sausage dinner. We spent one night in Rovaniemi in a large resort and did not enjoy it at all. We had such a great time at Polar Aurora Cabins that we plan to return again this December and stay over Christmas.

Our family of 4 spent 3 nights at the Polar Aurora Cabins and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The cabins are in the middle of the woods and are very cosy and comfortable. Made in traditional methods and not a hint of Ikea furniture in sight. Additionally having your own sauna was very enjoyable - especially allowing the kids to try the Finnish custom of rolling in the snow afterwards. There are nearby activities such as huskey sleighs, raindeer safaris, snow shoeing and snowmobiling. Mika and Jana are fantastic hosts, they truly go above and beyond. Even giving you alerts when there is an aurora visable from the cabins. We really enjoyed our trip & I highly recommend a visit to Polar Aurora Cabins. I hope we can go again to continue exploring this magnificent part of the world!

I highly recommend Polar Aurora cabins. We stayed in two bedroom cabin, 2 adults + 3 teenagers. One stayed in living room (comfy sofa bed), others had single beds in bedrooms. Cabin was beautiful, warm and clean and there were everything we needed, including electric sauna. Mika and Jaana were nice and very responsive. We got usefull tips for chasing northern lights and going to nature with snow shoes. Saariselkä was well reachable by car (we hired at the airport), as was Kiilopää. Would definitely visit Polar Aurora Cabins again 😊

As a fan of the warmth and the sun we (family with 2 kids, 15 and 19) usually fly south during christmas holidays. This year we wanted to do something different and went to Lapland. After extensive online research we chose the "Polar Aurora Cabins" south of Ivalo. And to make it short: it was the best decision and couldn't have been better. The location is amazing, tranquil and peaceful, the cabins are beautiful and cozy and the owners Mika and Jaana couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. We booked many activities directly with them (Snow mobile, Ice carting, Aurora hunting, Husky safari, Toboggan) and everything was perfectly organized and an unforgettable experience. It was really sad to say good bye and fly back to Austria but for sure we will come back to Lapland and Polar Aurora Cabins soon!

Ce lieu est magique , loin du bruit dans la forêt enneig et . La Cabin tout en bois est parfaite, la Cheminée est hyper agréable et le sauna privé un vrai plaisir . La literie n’en parlons pas , on n’a jamais aussi bien dormi de toute notre vie… On a eu la chance de faire un dîner un soir avec le propriétaire, l’impression de manger chez lui avec lui . C’était extra . À faire plutôt que d’aller dans un hôtel … des français heureux ( et oui ça arrive 🤣)

Tipico chalet in stile lappone immerso nel bosco ,lontano da ogni rumore. La casetta è curata nei minimi particolari molto accogliente e pulita. I proprietari sono molto disponibili nell aiutarti ad organizzare i vari safari con renne, husky..che sono da fare assolutamente! Polar si trova a circa 15 min dal supermercato più vicino e mezz ora dall aereoporto di Ivalo . Meglio munirsi di cibo prima di arrivare . Non c è reception h 24 ma per qualsiasi cosa si può contattare i proprietari. Se volete staccare veramente la spina dalla vita frenetica...questo è il posto ideale per grandi e piccini.

Onbeschrijflijk fantastisch verblijf hier gehad. Precies zoals wij het voor ogen hadden, eigenlijk nog beter. Wij (gezin met 2 kinderen 10 + 5 jaar) hadden middelste van 3 aaneengesloten blokhutten. Kwamen niks tekort en heerlijk gebruik gemaakt van de openhaard, sauna en de sleetjes. Jongens vonden bedden op het "zoldertje" helemaal leuk. Maar wat nog geweldiger was de sneeuwscooter tocht met Mika, waarbij wij rendieren tegenkwamen en op kampvuurtje in tent worstjes gingen braden. Doordat wij bij hun zelf de tocht geboekt hadden maakte het zo persoonlijk. Verblijf uitstekende locatie (rustig in bos gelegen), schoon, hygiënisch en de bedden ook heerlijk. (Ook zagen wij bij het blokhut rendieren en het noorderlicht) Je bent zo in het stadje voor boodschappen of restaurant etc. Uitstekende communicatie met Jaana en Mika de eigenaren, heel behulpzaam. De kinderen wilden niet weg (wij ook niet), en wij komen ook zeker nog een keer terug! Herinneringen voor altijd gemaakt
