La Luna Hotel

I think this was our eighth visit to La Luna, so you can safely say that we like the place. For the uninitiated, the complex is located on a sharp bend and a steep hillside just west of Troulos, between bus stops 20 and 21 (21 is closer). If you don't fancy climbing up the steep driveway or steps there is a lift from the roadside to the pool area, then a second lift from the pool area to the reception and up again to the accommodation level. Accommodation is split across two blocks, each with three floors. Some rooms have a terrace, which means they are located on the ground level and you access via what you might think of as a terrace or balcony. Other rooms have a balcony, and some are split level apartments, meaning they have a mezzanine floor with two beds downstairs and a double upstairs, along with an additional en suite bathroom. The beds are extremely comfortable. Bathrooms are quite small and dark and could do with updating (we booked with TUI - if you book direct the bathrooms are more modern) but sufficient. The kitchenette has a couple of electric rings, kettle, toaster, and a few utensils, glasses, cups, and plates. Rooms have safe deposit boxes and air conditioning (there is a charge for both), and there is a TV in the room if you want to watch it. Wifi is available across the site - SpaceX Starlink - and we did find it slower than 5G, but it was fine. If you wish, breakfast is available, booked in advance at reception, and is a buffet. There's a great selection of stuff, all freshly made including delicious cakes, and there's a fancy new Nespresso machine too. Food is available at the bar into the evening if you don't want to go out. The pool is fairly small but is very nice, and about five feet deep or so at the deep end. Sunbeds are available and although only a year or so old they do have metal bars underneath which make them a bit uncomfortable if you are lying flat rather than sitting up. As always, you have to get down early to have a good choice of where to sit, but the staff have put up notices on the bar saying that reserving sunbeds with towels is prohibited and this will be monitored. We didn't see anyone put towels down and disappear for hours, which is unlike some places we've stayed, and we did manage to get a nice spot to relax each day. Troulos beach is a short walk away. You can either turn left out of the site, follow the road, turn right at bus stop 20 and follow the track to the beach, or there's a dusty track with steps opposite the hotel entrance which leads down to the western end of the beach. If you want to get a bus to town, turn right out of La Luna, follow the road (be careful as it is quite bendy here), and bus stop 20 is about 200 metres away. It will cost you 3 Euro per person to get to Skiathos Town, and takes about 25 minutes or so. What really sets La Luna apart is the staff. Pleasant laid back vibe. Great Views. Spacious clean rooms with all amenities, bonus was Amazon and Paramount apps on TV ! Mosquito sliding door screens on patio doors. Breakfast great, hot and buffet style. Loads of choice. Nespresso coffee at breakfast. In between bus stops 20 and 21. Lift up from road. Path opposite hotel down to beach. Spiros and the guys are very helpful and friendly. They are a great team. We will be returning !

I stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of July as part of a two-centre holiday including the Greek Islands of Skopelos and Skiathos. This was for my 50th birthday celebrations and I stayed there with my Sister and young daughter (aged 8). The property is just right for a diverse range of clients, families, couples etc. Its peaceful and there is no rowdiness. The property is at the far end of Troulos and just a 15-20 minute walk away from the next resort of Koukounaries. We had a studio apt comprising of a double bed and single bed, separate bathroom, kitchenette and balcony terrace. The views were amazing, the room was clean, tastefully decorated and just right for our needs. There is also a double layer mosquito screen at the patio doors and excellent air conditioning. The hotel is situated on a steep hill, with different levels to the property. The owners Spiros, Miltos, Alex and George have acquired a Golf Buggy for the property :) and they go out of their way to move guests up and down the property, often assisted by the lovely "Ginger" Maltese Terrier. That means the property would be suitable for people of all physical abilities. There is a great swimming pool and pool bar area. The level of sun beds and umbrellas is just about right, but you do need to get in early. That said, there are stringent pool rules, which it is only fair guests abide by, to give other guests a chance at using the facilities, so it is not advised to claim a sunbed by leaving your towel in situ as it will (quite rightly) just get removed by management. The pool bar/snack bar has a great array of food and drink. The variety at breakfast was amazing. My sister and I have food sensitivities/allergies, and they went out of their way to accommodate us. The food options are spaced out very well to absolutely minimise any risk of cross-contamination. The owners really care. The property is a short walk to the beach if you don't get a sunbed. Troulos Beach charges €15 for 2 beds and an umbrella (at the Troulos Beach Hotel end). There is a dirt track to walk it easily just across from the hotel, but the road can be dangerous - the exit of the hotel is on a blind bend, so its advisable to walk along a bit before crossing. Koukounaries beach charges €30 for the same.! Needless to day, this is a fantastic property, with fantastic and caring owners. I will definitely be returning in 2026.

Spiros and co were incredibly helpful and welcoming making us feel at home. The breakfast and rooms were fantastic and the hotel has an excellent location with a lovely view over troullos bay. Thank you very much for a great stay! All the best, Sophia and Jonathan.

Absolutely wonderful hotel. Fantastic location and the most hospitable hosts., nothing was to much trouble they went out of their way to make sure the holiday was as perfect as possible.The room was spacious,spotless and modern with terrific sea views,highly recommended would definitely return

Great break, views, service, food, everything. George and spiros made you feel at home and very welcoming. Everything spotless , restaurant ,bar area . 5th time to skiathos and by far the best we have stayed at. They both work there socks off to make your stay great Reg and Jan ( room ) 13 6th may to 27th may.
