Elterwater Park Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast

Had a great stay in the self catering barns at Elterwater Park. The location is fantastic for walking and old swimming. You can just put on your walking boots and walk straight from the door as the Cumbria Way is outside your door. Plant of medium level walks like Loughrigg, Rydal, Little Langdale and Cathedral Caves and Black crag and Tarn Howes. We stayed for a week and did a different walk every day. It is also great for open water swimming. Again you can walk to Loughrigg tarn, Elterwater, Rydal and Grasmere. Coniston is not far away if you want to go a little further. Once you return from a long walk you have everything you need in the cosy and comfortable barn to prepare a hearty meal and relax on the outside patio area that has amazing views of the fells. Listen to the birds and watch the newborn lambs in the field. It is beautiful just sat out in the evening as it is so peaceful and with the dark skies there are so many stars. We were even lucky enough to see the barn owl flying past that lived in the nearby barn.

The accommodation itself was fine, with nice rooms and extensive kitchen facilities but there were a few problems. The photos of the house are very cleverly framed to disguise the fact that it's part of a complex with several other holiday lets adjacent, and that the Cumbria way runs directly through it. We had a procession of people watching us eat breakfast, sitting in "our" garden and even coming into the house! There's always competition for the single old EV charger which is usually either faulty or switched off! There are two mains sockets as well but they caused an overload if used while the EV charger is in use, and they were then cable tied shut! Indoors, the owners seem to have a fetish for creative wiring with 4 way sockets running everywhere, one even cable tied to the banister! And after a rainy night, there were 2 inches of dirty floodwater in the kitchen (I wondered about the tide marks on the chair legs!). So not the best experience, I'm afraid.

Located in a very picturesque part of Cumbria, Elterwater Park is ideal for walking and tourism. A wonderfully warm and comfortable house with every facility to make your stay first class. Beautiful en suite rooms, stylishly furnished, a well stocked kitchen and adequately supplied with toiletries, kitchen rolls, dishwasher tablets, kitchen rolls and a good starter pack. A great place for family, friends and one dog.

This is a beautiful place to stay. If you are looking for the perfect getaway, this is the place. A stunning location is matched by the standard of accommodation. The rooms are lovely, the beds are very comfortable, the food is delicious. Don’t look any further, this is the place you want to stay.

Recently returned from a 4 day break at Elterwater Guest House ,having stayed in The Byre self catering barn . Excellent comfortable accommodation with 2 large double bedrooms and cozy lounge area. The on site Muddy Boots honesty cafe is a great little facility for mulled wine and cakes for winter evenings. will definitely be staying again , thanks to Dave and Liz for their hospitality

An excellent stay at Elterwater Park guest house. It’s in a perfect location, tucked away from the business of Ambleside but walking distance to the villages. If you’re after peace and quiet this is the place to go. Lovely guesthouse run by really friendly people. Will definitely be back
